Sorry if this is an old problem already treated 1000 times. It's
the first time I needed and tried Turboprint.

Okay, I'm using Morphos 1.4 and the integrated Turboprint. First I used to
print from my Amiga 1200 and wanted to do it from my Peggy now. So I took
the printer cable out of my A1200 and connected it to my Pegasos.

    The first strange thing:
    - My HP Deskjet 560C has the busy lamp on, I'm not printing anything right
    now.

My Turboprint settings (Ambient, Settings, System Settings, Printer are:

    Printer Panel
    - Configuration HP_DeskJet560C
    - Name HP_DeskJe560C
    - Port Parallel

    Config
    - Printmode B/W 8
    - Density 300x300dpi
    - Format DIN A4
    - Feed autom.Feed
    - didn't change the remaining

    No changes on other Panels.

Now, I wanted to print a simple text document from AmigaWriter, I'm able to
select HP_Deskjet560C from the menu. It starts to spool the print job, the
printer goes from busy to ready the back to busy and nothing happens.

I also tried to print from GoldEd with the same effect.

    What is wrong?

    Kind regards
    Yvan

Hm, what do you mean exactly? I tried it with the generic driver from my WB 3.9 CD, didn't work? Is it that what you mean or is there another Morphos generic driver?

By the way, on my A1200 I'm working with an older TurboPrint version and from there I can print to my HP Deskjet 560C without problems.

Okay tried it. Now it prints at least the first line of my documents before it stucks the same way as before. I can use it now for printing very short memos. As I heard from the mailing list I'm not the only one with unsolvable TurboPrint problems.

I never had an old Turboprint installation on MOS, so no assign problems. I found a way by printing to a file called for example turbp.prt and then in a shell enter 'copy turbo.prt PAR:', it works in a wonderful never seen quality. Okay, there is a problem with the last page so I add an additional page and it works. Strange is that 'copy turbo.prt PRT:' doesn't work.

Anyway, until it is really fixed I can work that way

    Hello Yvan,

I've got a HPDeskjet920c and encounter the problem of printing in inverted colors, white letters on a black background.
This could be really interesting for graphical artists or so :-)

But anyway, I'm now able to print from WordWorth.
Thanks to Bifford: in tooltypes place "PICASSO=TRUE" and this problem is solved.

    Also Final Writer works.

I tried Graphic Publisher of an older TurboPrint-version. But with that I get the inverted colors.

Oh, and in my system settings I placed the HP_DeskJet92xC driver.

Bytheway, you've got an interesting solution. I'll try that one too :-)

I tryed this way, but if I dont have a printer connected, turboprint does'nt active anithing. I never could create a pinting file .

Can Turboprint generate printing files without a printer connected?

My Canon 4300 printer seems to be working perfectly on MorphOS 1.4 Turboprint, I've only printed a few pictures yet, though...

But there's one rather strange problem; Printing seems to stop, whem Pegasos sends last part of image data to printer (ie, when "printing" window closes), but it continues to print the rest after pressing the "resume" -button on printer.

    VERY IMPORTANT : PRINTING SURVEY

As many pegasos users, I do want to use turboprint with new printers.
We need a new rewritten TurboPrefs MorphOS to be able to use turboprint new printers drivers for linux easily.

Yes this would be one more GREAT THING happen to MorphOS!

IMHO, if ZedoNet would bring out a modernized PPC native version of Turboprint for MorphOS, including network printer support etc., and, if possible, this way the linux drivers of the printers could be used on the MorphOS version, the printing problems MorphOS had experienced would be solved.

What would it take to get the linux drivers working in the MorphOS version? Has anyone asked them to help us out? Even if they could release a patch for us and charge a small fee, I would pay it!

    @ mk

I found another solution here which I have tested: a parallel to USB converter cable.

This works fine (tested with a Epson Stylus 3000). In using this cable, the parallel port problem is gone.

Here is a picture of the cable:

    Hi all,

in order to solve the printing problems under MorphOS, I think, the only way would be to adapt a new version of Turboprint for MorphOS from the existing Linux and Macosx versions which are done by Zedonet.

    http://www.turboprint.de

If this would be done then with minor changes the Linux drivers could also be used with Turboprint under MorphOS!!! (this is what I have understood after having talked to Florian Zeiler (the programmer of Turboprint).

Of course this would only be done from Zedonet, I think, if there is enough interest from MorphOS user's to have a modern printing suite for MorphOS!!!

User's then would be able to use more or less all new printers which arrive on the market as the drivers are anyway done for Linux.

I find that high quality printing, with reliable color correction for a specific printer, nowadays is VERY IMPORTANT (think of printing photos from a digital camera...)

So now is anyone else interested by this or am I the only one?

And if there is an interest what or/and how would you suggest going on to get Zedonet to do a MorphOS port of their new Turboprint for Linux?

    Regards

    Christoph

well considering the amount of development the amiga version has gotten I would say that the chances are slim to none
(they still haven't released their pixma drivers, even though that was supposed to be 'just around the corner' when I bought my TP 7.60+Pixma iP4000. which is now close to 2 years ago...), make that 'when hell freezes over' :-)
