Why is it that some Legacy apps are able to be opened as if they are MorphOS native, then others can not be opened with a double click? And when you right click on those that won't open it states that they are for a 68k machine or what ever.

I don't understand this. I figured that all classic apps would just show up as executable.

That's because some are programmed in an OS friendly way and others are not.

And when you right-click on those that will open it states the very same, doesn't it?

    They don't?

    XDelusion,

I've found Hyperion games to be poorly written, at least with installers, and had problems using them on real Amigas.

That is a very general question. Let's say you download an executable file from Aminet and double clicking doesn't work. Try opening it in a shell and see what message you get.

Can you define "can not be opened" more precisely and give two or three apps as an exemple?

Also, it is very common to have programs quiting or crashing at startup with no requester to notify the user they are only missing a library or something.
So, in such case, always use snoopdos or snoopium to track the missing files and run the programs manually from the shell because some will only print error messages there.
