AFAIK you must select usbparallel.device as printer devince in printer configuration. Though.. I don't know more details, never tried myself, because I don't have an USB printer.

And you must have luck to possess a supported printer. The included version of Turboprint is rather old.

    @Doc
thanks i did a not so thorough search!

you will find useful information in the texts posted by Guido "geit" Mersmann on July 1 and 2 in the MorphOS Mailing List (thread: Printer support).

Otherwise you need a USB printer. In such a case you can find instructions for printer configuration in the second part of this article (the first part of the article describes the installation of TurboPrint 7.60, but you do not need it if your USB printer is supported by the version of TurboPrint distributed in MorphOS 1.4.x and 2.0).

how do i get to this info?
i need to follow step by step to install a usb 2400series printer

Here's what I do.. I have a NetGear print server with a HP LaserJet 1200 attached to it. And I'm using lpr-dev (aminet link below) which is a parallel port driver replacement. Then you basically configure the printing normally and just select the parallel port as the device.

    lpr-dev.lha

This is working nicely on my Efika..

maybe I'm just not understanding. I'm assuming that morphos 2.0 on efika efika doesn't currently have a viable print option? for a simple HP2400 series usb printer!? :-x :-x :-x

@ xypoid: Maybe you should visit the Turboprint Homepage and look wich Printers are Supported or maybe you could check the supported Printers in the Printer Prefs.
Then you would see that there is no driver for your Printer. That would help alot in that issue.

No need to be a smart @ss! That was already established in the thread previously.. What I was looking for is a generic solution as in generic prefs as in os1.3-3.9! other options were mensioned, but i didn't get it! These are the type of responses which turn people off from amigas in general and further destroys the cause (As in if i may now not want to continue trial of this os, and opt for something MORE USER FRIENDLY!!) I have promoted amiga among all my friends, and morph to 4 so far. we need to work together to find solutions for each other.

STOP BEING A SMART KNOW IT ALL, AND ASSIST PRODUCTIVELY......YEA I'M DONE!! :-x

I don't get it why the "Generic" solution in MOS-Prefs, is not generic enough.
And i don't get it that you still assuming on the 2nd of august, after you have read the Arcticle of DoctorMorbius and should new wich printer is and is not supported by TP,
that TP dosen't support your Printer directly. After reading the Article you should have know it for sure.

And now here is a smart @ss advice for you, try all drivers from HP and maybe others that are in the TP-Prefs and maybe one of them works with your Printer.

And if you like to support MOS and specially Printing then you could consider to donate to this Bounty
Cos that is what move us all forward.
