    1. I have downloaded the Iso file
    2. I have burned it on a CD
    3. I did boot from OF with /ide/cd bootpeg1.img

But than I don't get the boot CD mounted on my Peg (no CD0: ).. without a mounted boot CD it seems to be impossible to delete the MBR and to copy anything from CD0: to DH0:

Any ideas that could help me ?

    ---

Does I need to have a working MOS System to pay for MOS2.0 ?

    ( I'm asking for an old Pegasos1 and a potential Efika )

    Hi
i'm not really clear on your problem? You mean it boots to morphos2 and then you cant access the cd? What type of cable are you using? What jumper setting? Where on the bus - which controller? What brand?

And as far as buying Morph2 you dont need to have owned mos before. If you mean you can use the reg tool, contact the developers to set up alternative payment.

Yes, this is what the command 'boot /ide/cd bootpeg1.img' should do AFAIK

Yes, I dont get an CD Icon and I don't get CD0: listed after 'Info' . Strange, cause the CD is recognized under MOS1.4x and I used to boot with ist from OF ... it seems as the image of MOS2.0 has some problems to recognize the CD-ROM.

It is recognized as CD0 under MOS1.4x for some more detailed view I have to look into my Peg the comming weekend.

IDE Controller on the motherboard, if you need any output of tools, that gives you more informations, please name the tool I will try to give as much information as possible ( as long as the defective C&P function let me do )

Ok man I'm still not sure here what you are talking about.

Can you boot from the CD YES OR NO?

Yes, this is what the command 'boot /ide/cd bootpeg1.img' does. It boots from CD.

Abd After I had booted from this CD on this CD-Drive, the booted system (MOS2.0) could not access the CD.

This sounds like the same problem as i had when i was about to install mos2 on a peg1.
It loaded the kernel from the cd but then it loaded the morphos system i already had on my HD,i couldn't find a sollution to this problem so i just moved the HD & cdrom to my other peg1 motherboard and there it loaded as it should and i was able to install mos and move the hd & cdrom to the other machine again.

Indeed, that is a problem: MorphOS 2.0 booting from a 1.4.x setup. How can that be? After loading Quark ("boot.img") version 2, it still bothers to search elsewhere aside from the device that "boot.img" came from? It can be handy, but why this feature? And how to control it?
I didn't have that problem in my Pegasos 1, and I installed MorphOS 2.0 in the same partition as 1.4.x (right after quick formatting it).
It surprised me when MorphOS 2.0 autobooted, but I shouldn't have been surprised: The boot files were named the same and, of course were in the same place.

Try the early startup menu? Maybe that can help choose the boot drive?

After 'boot /ide/cd bootpeg1.img' I had a strange mix of preferences. Ambient was running in a super high resolution ( flickering, maybe interlaced ) but wallpapers where taken from the installaition I had on DH0:

    >Try the early startup menu?

A early startup menue on the Peg1 ? I missed it, how could I enter it ?

    >Maybe that can help choose the boot drive?

According to the installation.readme I typed in 'boot /ide/cd bootpeg1.img' this works, but when MOS2.0 cames up it doesn't recognize the CD-Rom although it was booted from it.

    ---

Are there any known Problems with 'Master/Slave' Settings ?
MOS1.44 recognizes the CD & CD-Drive, OF accepts a boot command for it maybe OS2.0 has some Problems with it.

MorphOS startup menu [NEW] (To access startup menu press and hold F1 or left mouse button or use BOOTMENU boot argument)

The boot menu can be opened by using F1 or pressing your left mouse button during the boot up, but this may be tricky due to issues of wireless devices or USB ones in general. This switch forces the boot menu to be opened without any additional key or button press.

Is the boot menu handles by OF or by MOS2.0 ?

I want to know If I should hold the left mouse button before I enter OF or after I typed 'boot /ide/cd bootpeg1.img' ?

I have a Peg1 and I have the same exact problem, after it boots there is no CD0: mounted.

While SmartFirmware is able to acces a CD, MorphOS's own IDE driver isn't. Which sheds some light into what extent MorphOS ignores the BIOS.

The MorphOS IDE driver has been updated in 2.0 release. Sounds weird, but it's indeed possible: Something else is reading the CD, which is not the BIOS.

Either there's some way to tweak MorphOS 2.0 IDE driver (I doubt it can be replaced anyhow), or you're set to buy a different CD drive.

I remember now that, MorphOS doesn't like at all those "modern" cable select options in drives. It's required to set master and slave accordingly, the old way. I have it this way in my Pegasos I (April 2), and there's no problem.

It is known (if I correctly remember this was said by CISC in an old MorphZone thread) that MorphOS (at least up to 1.4.5) after the boot phase takes complete control of the machine and erases all the OpenFirmware processes.
Powered by PegasosII-G4, MacMini, PowerMac MDD.
