yesterday i've moved the sb live card to another pci slot in my pegII.
after that the system has totally freezed when i wanted to play a sound. when i changed back the card to the previous slot, everything working well. is this normal? guess not... i've just changed the slots nothing else.
any idea why this happened?

Hmm rather strange, but PCI bus conflicts do happen. more so with regular pcs, but can happen on the peg apparently.

i have exactly the same issue.
but even worse, when i move my sblive to another slot then MOS doesn't even boot, it gets stuck on "Quark/OpenFirmware. "

Can it be that SmartFirmware stores something about PCI cards, that might cause conflict if they are changed? Pretty weird, as it doesn't seem clever at first glance.

i will try to boot and use linux when i move the card to another slot, see what'll happen... maybe its just a mos problem.

i was told that this ist normal , so i guess it can be fixed.

i think my sblive may be faulty and damaged, i'll try to get another one to test it.
