There are NO Morphos Drivers for Video Out on Radeon cards. If there was a bounty maybe cyfm or somebody...

As far as Linux goes, if you apply the Gatos patches to Xorg (or xfree86) you can get video output with certian Radeon cards. And AFAIK Radeon 9200se is one of them..

If you live in a country where you have an RGB TV input, then you can breath.
You'll need to build a full VGA to Scart (P?ritel) cable, and to set Ambient at the good mod. Normally they are already included :-)

    hi!

its a useless idea! its not a sloution. who will change the cables everytime when you need a tv?

ppl want to use video output simultaneously with monitor output. tv for playing games or watching movies, monitor for everything else.

is it such a big thing? amiga has this option since its birth (well, it was designed for tv:). i was always laughing on winpc users for the nonexistent or very limited and cripply working tv output - until they got better then amiga ever had...

i think pega/mos really needs a tv-output feature (think about cable-tv studios/video editors who still use amigas or want to use next gen amigas - peg is an ideal machine to them)

Yes, it is, like you said, it was designed for TV, and the screenmodes were PAL/NTSC compatible (mostly) .. graphics cards don't generally output PAL/NTSC friendly signals (you can make them do that though (which you have to do for the SCART hack)), but rather come with additional logic to convert specific screenmodes into a TV-friendly signal and output it through the composite or s-video connector...

That logic has to be set up specifically to output this signal, and that's not always so easy (depending on the chipset), nor is it very well documented (or at all) .. additionally you can't just use any screenmode you want, you have to use specially adapted ones.

Well, it's not impossible, we already have working tv-out for certain cards, the problem is just that it causes problems for other cards, in other words; it's not stable. There also needs to be a better more integrated way of handling TV modes than having to select just the right screenmode (ie, MorphOS, apps and users need to have a way to interact smoothly for when you want a TV mode and when you don't)...

    @sadddam : :-)
If they still use Amiga, they still use 15 Khz monitors (what the Amiga was originaly made for ..).
If you don't want to make the cable, just built it ready on Ebay (used a lot for MAME machine), multiple output ? use a VGA multiplexer box...

You can also these old VGA to Video box (some can go up to 1600x1200)...
    it's up to you.

thanks for the answer! understood the difficulties:) as i see you've got to write the tv-out driver for every type of cards wich can be used in pegs.

its good to hear that you have progress in this area! hope this situation will gets better, and i can use mos as the same way as i use winblows - hook up the gfx card onto a tv and a montor and use them both simultaneously - ie its a two monitor system:) will this be possible on mos?

can we know what cards do you have tv-out without problems?

    thx!

Well, if only it was that simple. ;)

ATM there's only support for the Radeons, and those come with different versions of the Rage Theater chip...

ATM only the early versions work reliably (ie, R100 cards).

It would if the chip would allow that, but it doesn't (atleast not on R100 (some newer cards can have the overlay displayed in the tv output instead of in the main output, but that's not too useful), it just copies the main output).

But most of the newer LCD or Plasma tv`s supports VGA input etc as I understand it? I saw morphos running on Gunnes tv etc. But the specs is usually 1024x768 etc.

    The easy way :
    http://www.idiots.org.uk/vga_rgb_scart/
    A better one :
    http://www.tkk.fi/Misc/Electronics/circuits/vga2tv/circuit.html

Check your screenmode list, you might see something like 7xx X 4xx (NTSC) and 7xx X 5xx (PAL) and also some others 15 Khz mode

    Got video output!

After reposting and looking at the cable CLS2086 gave me the link to.
I also checked my Screenmode list, like CLS2086 sayd.

    Know what i found?

When making a new screenmode i found the sizes 7xx X 5xx (PALTV) that he told me about..
But when trying them i did't get a fullscreen picture.. :-(
Soo i looked again, this time i tried the 800x600 (PALTV) resolution.

I now have fullscreen on tv 8-)
The only thing is my Samsung Syncmaster can't handel the resolution, so i can't seen good on the screen, but i have tv output.

The only thing now is that if i want to play Mame, Snes9x, etc, i have to resize window to what size i want.
When going fullscreen the screen still jumps.
But who cares! I have output!
If this ever gets fixed nice.

And how to config this to program with overlay support (e.g. MPlayer) to use this in overlay modes? And you wrote something wrong... or i have some damaged gfx card, because i haven't 800x600 PALTV mode... i have only 720x4xx PALTV modes and 800x600 normal mode (without PALTV). I have Radeon 9200 128b... and old monitor (m-sync which i was using with Amiga classic)... is it cause of problem?

Ok... i get it about this 800x600 PALTV stuff. When i'm setting monitor type from 31 (default) to 38kHz i have this option

    ...So I saved settings.

But there's a problem... the output has no color... or as weak that my VHR<->TV set doesn't get this...

And still question about this overlay mode.

Maybe somebody do program which puts one signal for monitor, and next the same with modified parameters for TV?

Well... after all this things do driver with TV-Out support
