In our 'for what its worth' department ;-)

I have been using Betascan all night now to scan in pics of my family.

Betascan works just like on my old Amiga 3000T only faster :-)
I'm using an ancient Mustek MFC6000CX three pass scanner through a
Symbios 50pin SCSI card in PCI slot 1 on my April2 PegI. I notice in
task manager that symbios.device skyrockets to 100percent when
accessing the scanner and it makes the mouse freeze/jump for several
seconds at a time when scanning. But, unlike the recalcitrant PeeCee
and Mac boxes, at least the Pegasos actually seems capable of sucking
in pictures from a scanner and putting them into the digital realm.

Will future versions of this SCSI driver be a little less prone to
take over the system? I thought SCSI was all about DMA and low CPU
overhead, but maybe its a PegI thing or ?? Minor gripe, but
    noticeable.

Overall though, I have to say I am very happy with this aspect of my
Pegasos. No other computer in the house will drive this scanner
properly, from Mac OS to Windows 2000 to Linux. There's just no
substitute for the little free program, Betascan. Its a big part of
the reason I use MOS. A remminder of what Amiga once was and what MOS
    can be :-D

    THanks for the report :-)

Just like you to know we have Symbios 895 UWSCSI (80mb/sec) controllers that are NEW and IN STOCK for $39.95. This is the fastest SCSI you can get for your Peg with MOS>

I have A Mustek 6000 SP (SCSI) and it works almost perfect with FXScan light. 'Almost' means that after using it my computer tends to freeze after some time. I haven't resolve the problem yet. But it is usable now.

I also used my Agfa Snapscan scanner a few times under MorphOS on my A1200.

I didn't expect my SquirrelSCSI to work with MorphOS but it actually did!

I'll throw in my 2 cents here: ScanQuix 5 works like a charm on my Peg2, telling my Epson Perfection 1200S (SCSI) and Canoscan FS2710 (negative / film scanner!) exactly what needs to be done.

    @magnetic

Does the Symbios card you mention allow internal UW-SCSI devices as well as external SCSI-II devices?
I currently have a Dawicontrol 'DC-2976 UW', with internal UW-SCSI and external SCSI-II connected and working, but for some reason this card takes 45 secs extra when booting (and yes, I am pretty sure I have the termination set correctly - been using SCSI in my A500/1200/4000T/Peg2).

He said "on my A1200", not on Pegasos.
He probably has MorphOS 0.4a or so.

There's is a scan-software called Scantek, for Mustek scanner. It works without problems on MOS 1.4.2 PegI, too.
