32Mb VRAm vs 64Mb VRAM?

    How bad is 32Mb?
I cannot find a Mac Mini with 64Mb VRAM and I'm not sure I could handle the noise and power usage of a Power Mac despite them being so much cheaper (it would be on 24/7 in the lounge).
    I'm looking to buy today.

    How bad is 32Mb VRAM?
does it slow things down that badly/stop software working?

    thanks

(also, if any admins of the site read this, when I get email replies to my posts, the only link in them is to stop getting notifications, there isn't one just to read the thread)

if you stay on 1280*1024 desktop and turn off enhanced display it is ok. You can run RTCW or quake3 on 1024*768 at full spec.
If you wan more forget 32Mb and even 64.

Maybe if you want to surf with OWB and play RTCW at the same time 32 will not be enough. But for everyday use 32 is enough, even though it's not as "hot" as 64, since you have to be careful not to use it all up. I have 128 on my G5 and that's more than enough for everything (except playing Duke Nukem 3D with the HI-RES graphic expansion pack. Then even 128 isn't enough for smooth playing. I use LOW-RES graphic expansion pack instead).

I only have 32mb of VRAM in my iBook and it works fine for the applications I use.

    Yeah, at 1024x768 ......

Doubt anyone would use such a small desktop monitor these day.

I do on a regular basis.
I can't imagine trying to view higher res on a 14" LCD.
And for most applications its adequate.

I used my Mac Mini with 32 MEG VRAM with 1920x1080. It worked fine, even with OWB running.

I had an eMac and always found my self pressing the memory limit. Get something with 64 at the VERY least.
