Finally decided to do the CPU swap into a tower to see if it would pick up on the Xserve CPU modules. Course it picked up the CPU modules and MorphOS did see them at their rated speed.

Video of the G5 booted in MorphOS

Only thing is that the damn fans were basically on full speed and using those Xserve heatsinks might not be the best idea since I had to remove the leg stands that hold the LCS. I never got the Xserve CPU legs which it could of possibly be able to use them. Just be careful! :)

Best bet would be to use some 2.0ghz heatsinks and call it the day. :) I have not tried using the diagnostics tool to even try to do a calibration for fear it will just brick the thing or throw an error and not be able to calibrate anyways.

    Enjoy your day! 8-)

Have you had a chance to do any testing to find out what temperatures your new 2.3GHz MorphOS3.2 system is running at, both at idle, and during playback of any high resolution videos, would be helpful to other considering swapping heatsinks, and/or CPU modules. :-D

There isnt much difference between idle/under load. But with that setup I had going it kept it around 67c the whole time. It might run cooler if you swap out for bigger heatsinks.

@Doffo: Do you need to use ECC memory modules, or you using "simple" modules" and just swapped the cpu-s?

Honestly I don't know. Other G5 macs I have has various kinds of ram, so I would say possibly either or would work.
