hi guys, I have been trying to install Morphos 3.2 on my G4 for a while now but have so far not got it to work. Once I tell it to boot from the cd it just sits at a white screen and will go no futher.

I have tried other cd/dvd drives but same thing happens, tried to install from usb but being my first mac have not been able to get that to work either.

So, can anyone help me out getting this installed? Or maybe I can try install 3.1 instead? Haven't been able to find an iso for 3.1.

    Thanks for having a look.

    Hi Dav,

Is your PowerMac is suppored by MorphOS 3.2 ? See this hardware compatible list :

Find a download link for 3.2 and replace the "2" in the link with a "1".

The exact error message might be useful.

Had this annoying problem before. Switch your CD drive. Though it starts to boot up, its aged and it struggles. Just get any newer IDE pc drive, then remove its front faceplate, then replace the current one in your mac.

-copy ISO and boot.img to pendrive FAT
-Start with the built usb (OF)
    Code:
    boot usb0/@1,boot.img umsd0:morphos32.iso

    or
    Code:

Also, not sure if swapping jumper positions will help. Set it to either slave/master. Worth a shot. :)

Thanks for the reply guys, really appreciate your help. I tried to boot from usb again using the command from Norbi but as soon as i press enter i get a LOAD-SIZE is to small message. Tried a few other ways I found to boot from usb and the furthest i got was a screen with:

    Loading ELF
    Quark/OpenFirmware
    console active
    System: <PowerMac3,6> Rev <>
    CPU0: <PPC7455> Version 0x8001 Revision 0x303
    CPU0: CPUClock 1249999995 BUSClock 166636859
    CPU1: <PPC7455> Version 0x8001 Revision 0x303
    CPU1: CPUClock 1249999995 BUSClock 166636859

    DO-QUIESCE finished

Tried all the dvd drives I had in master, slave and cable select as well, no good :-x

I'm having issues of freezing as well. Under MOS 3.1, which I just reinstalled, I have no issues at all. Same hardware with MOS 3.2 and I can't get passed the install. Copying a file or trying to start app locks it all up. WHen I get my graphics card in for my G5, I'm going to try installing it there and see if I get the same problems.

Only last things I can think about trying is resetting the settings on the board via that small button on the mainboard. Not sure if swapping out the CPU module will do much, but worth a shot. :P Picked up a 1.25ghz single cpu card for $13 shipped on fleabay. This way my MDD runs much cooler. :)

Hope you get it sorted out! It shouldn't be this much hassle.

On a Powerbook you do this. I assume it's the same for an iBook.

    Code:
    boot ud:,boot.img bootimage=umsd0:morphos-3.2.iso

In Ambient, right click the iso image, click Information, click MD5.
