    Interesting, check out the processor listed in the test and the fact that the memory benchmarks have greatly improved.

    The wrong processor being reported seems to be a common problem:

    Very dissapointing memtest results with this cpu. I've tried different ram but that made no difference. A consequence of 7448 support being experimental perhaps?

    Wow, you're the first MorphOS user I'm aware of reporting using a 7448, and the first one who reports running at 2.0 GHz. And to top that, it's both together. Nice :-D
    Could you please run the dnetc benchmark and report your results in that other thread? Thanks in advance. (Looking at your avatar I guess you might have done so already ;-)

    Yes, I'd be expecting rather something like Jim's results, if not better.

    1/9th fasterv cloock speed and a more effiecient processor. If I had my choice (between the 1.8 7447 and a 2.0 7448) I'd choice the later.
    Strange memtest resuls.
    Quicksilver's are never going to match DDR euipped MDDs, but there's something odd going on there.

    I think with this benchmark specifically it's more about the 25% faster FSB with most MDD models, less about the fact that MDDs use DDR SDRAM instead of SDR SDRAM.

    I haven't run any benchmarks so far but I will soon. I've been too busy trying to work out how to reduce the noise output of this beast ;)

    I've tried the same ram in another Quicksilver with a Sonnet 1.8Ghz and got similar results to Jim. However I've also tested (yet) another Quicksilver with a Giga Designs dual 7447 1.8Ghz and got results much the same as I got from the NewerTech Maxpower 7448 2GHz equipped Quicksilver 2002 I posted above. So I'm puzzled.

    well support for 7448 is called experimental ... maybe that's the reason ? And if you trough this topic, there other combinations giving disappointing results.

    Frankly, considering the memtests I'm currently getting, I couldn't care less.

    Well that doesn't look right... so this is an overclocked 1.42GHz model?

    Here are the results of my Powermac Digital Audio, equiped with Sonnet 1.8. I could have sworn that a few days ago I passed the memtest with 3x 512Mb and with better results also... but or I am getting crazy or something else is going on, I had to replace the 3rd 512mb with a 256Mb to pass the memtest. All in all not to bad these results and more than enough for what MorphOS is today.

    Hi Stephen, there is a problem in MorphOS 2.7 addressing more than 1280Mb (in PowerMac)
    I have same freeze problem in PowerMac FW800 dual G4@1420 with 2048Mb RAM (512Mb x 4).
    You can see also this freeze problem copying file in RAM: volume (more than 1280Mb).
    I hope It' ll be solved this addressing RAM problem in MorphOS 2.8.
    bye

    Putting files into ram didn't seem to work, but after taking out 1 of the 1GB sticks of ram out:-

    Ram Disk:> memtest disable
    Allocated memory at 0x23D81740 -> 0x5C85E5BF, 950914688 bytes
    Writing and Verifying 0x00000000...
    Write 697 MB/sec. Verify 394 MB/sec.
    Writing and Verifying 0xFFFFFFFF...
    Write 697 MB/sec. Verify 394 MB/sec.
    Memory is ok!

    There is a freeze problem (copying file to RAM: for exemple) in PowerMac in MorphOS 2.7, only if you have more than 1280Mb.
    For exemple if you use 1024 x 2 , or 512 x 3 or x 4 , or 1024+512, or 1024+256+256... or 521 x2 + 256 x2 , or etc... so more than 1280Mb.

    @morphos team
    solved in MorphOS 2.8 ?

    Thanks
    Regards

    You know, I'd completely forgotten I'd posted on here..

    Anyway, I've replaced the 2 gig sticks of generic ram with some quite fancy OCZ PLATINUM PC3200 (OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K) memory, sticks on my Dual G4 1.42 MDD, the results are:

    Ram Disk:> memtest disable
    Allocated memory at 0x22D1EE40 -> 0x5C8495FF, 968009664 bytes
    Writing and Verifying 0x00000000...
    Write 697 MB/sec. Verify 394 MB/sec.
    Writing and Verifying 0xFFFFFFFF... Write 697 MB/sec. Verify 394 MB/sec.
    Memory is ok!

    Which is idnetical to other stuff :-( Well live and learn..

    And for my 1.67 Powerbook..

    hawh, only joking.

    But I'm suprised that the G4 1.42 power macs memory is slower than the 1.5 MacMini, prehaps , I'm wrong to be suprised?

    i have same mac mini dual boot..
    a kernal attack can only be avoided by killing the power overnight
    it starts out cool and
    it will then dual boot to the mac side
    the morph side has no problems and my dual boot goes first to Morph :)
    what sticks did you finally get?
    :-)

    Unless you overclock the 167Mhz systembus - that needs PC2700 (333Mhz) ramsticks - faster ram sticks aren't going to do anything noticably to your computer. If you put a faster cpu, the memtest will be better ... but still the PC2700 sticks will handle that without problem. So kind of useless to put expensive sticks in there that are made for people who overclock windowsboxes.
