Using Bluetooth keyboard/mouse with MorphOS on Mac mini

So it turns out using Bluetooth keyboard+mouse is possible with MorphOS on the Mac mini, a thread at Amiga News.it has more details. There is also a video on YouTube showing a Bluetooth mouse being used with MorphOS.

I'm typing this post on my mini with my Apple Bluetooth keyboard, there is an Apple HID device listed in Poseidon, it has two interfaces for keyboard and mouse, so in practise it works like a standard USB device.

Thanks to Capitanvideo for discovering this.

    Sweet!

Am going to try this now.

Bloody typical though, it's only 2 weeks ago I dismantled the mini and pulled the bluetooth/wireless board (using power with no benefit). Have to take it apart again now...

My bluetooth mouse is now working, but the keyboard does not.

Just sits there with the LED blinking without establishing a connection.

    Mouse: A1015
    Keyboard A1016

    @Golem
Did you make any adjustments/go through any processes to get your keyboard working? Is it the same model?

    Regards

Thanks for the info, will give that a try. (Although that means reinstalling OSX, so may take a while)

I don't know if installing OSX is required, haven't had OSX on the mini for a while now. Maybe it can be done by an OSX install disc before it touches the hdd.

Obviuosly (or not?), this is something completely unrelated to operating system. It seems Mac Mini's hardware includes keyboard and mouse already plugged as HID devices onto its internal USB hub. Only that they aren't plugged, and come over the air instead.

It's the Bluettoth radio that's plugged in. Clever. But actually, it's something Apple is forced to do, if they want to sell a computer with Bluettoth input devices, that have to work BEFORE the operating system has started, it the firmeare.

yes It's true in the OpenFirmware but there is a strange thing ... :
The italian guy use an Apple keyboard bluetooth (in Open Firmware and in MorphOS2.5), but the strange thing is He has an (IT) italian layout of keyboard in MorphOS 2.5, while the default layout keyboard in Open Firmware is US, not (IT italian).
    Any ideas ?

    regards

That's a feature, doesn't matter how your keyboard looks, you get the same layout for all.

    ???
In OpenFirmware the layout is US ... so if the keyboard is "managed by OpenFirmware" in MorphOS, He should have (in MorphOS) an US layout, while He has (in MorphOS) an IT layout.

So the keyboard bluetooth is not "managed by OpenFirmware" in MorphOS but from Poseidon itself ? (ideas ?)

    regards

W/o having tested it myself I think OF introduces a virtual usb hid device. And that virtual hid gets mounted by Poseidon.

Some other Bluetooth adaptors I have here also present USB HID devices for mouse and keyboard.

I am using a Logitech keyboard/mouse/numpad with a bluetooth->usb adapter that came with it. I always thought it was a full bluetooth adapter until I plugged it in MorphOS and it worked. I thought Poseidon actually knew what a bluetooth adapter was but that is not the case either. The adapter converts bluetooth for these three items only to usb. But, hey, as long as it works.

Yeah, i can access openfirmware or the boot sequence holding alt with the wireless keyboard. Is the reason i don't know why it don't get working in MorphOS.

Does someone know more about this?. I can reach OF and boot menu with my wireless keyboard, but then, no longer works under morphos.
    Neither keyboard or mouse.
My keyboard has the number A1255.

Perhaps it has to do with the keyboard / mouse model. As far as I am noticing some models works, some not... Have not tested anything by myself (still).

    OFC it works :D
DiNovo Mini's bluetooth mini adapter works via bluetooth only between the adapter and the keyboard. Nothing that the OS is aware of. That's why it works under BIOS in all PCs along with MOS/Mac/etc. Since every OS see's the adapter as an HID Keyboard+Mouse and not a bluetooth adapter \o/

I have same issue as _ThEcRoW.
I can access OSX plus Boot selection just fine, but under MorphOS they don't seem to work.

Oh well... back to standard USB Keyboard + Mouse for me... pitty :(

Will try to upgrade to the latest morphos and test if it works. It's a shame, as is more comfy using only one keyboard as having to had one extra in the table.
