    Hi!

I bought Radeon 9000 PCI card and it don't want to work with my
Pegasos I... Only what I see when turn on my computer is a black
    screen.

I tried this card on my brother's Pegasos II - situation was the same
    - only black screen.

Some time ago I tried other PCI card - Radeon VE - again only black
    screan.

Do you know why? I read documentation for MorphOS3DUpdate_R2 and both
of this card should work... But the system even don't boot with it.

Could I do something to use this card with Pegasos?

You'll see a few posts where people with PCI video cards have problems - most problem posts are about PCI Radeons because popular video card to use.

Search for "pci radeon", "tft radeon" and "radeon" in the forums and you'll find some posts to look through.

    What it could be:
    1) Using TFT screen? LCD Display? Try with CRT monitor.

    2) Open Firmware is not initializing the PCI video card properly.

There is a newer firmware for Peg2 but nothing for Peg1.
    http://www.bplan-gmbh.de/news/update05042004_en.html

See if your brother is willing to update his Peg2 Firmware and try again.

*Make sure to check MD5 checksum before flashing the board.

    3) Also, power supply may not provide the proper wattage required. Something else to check out.

Better to return the PCI Radeon card. The best solution is to use an AGP video card instead. Though 1 or 2 people have had trouble with AGP Radeons too but they mostly work. Radeon 7000 to 9250 is supported. Make sure AGP card supports 2X mode ( 3.3 volts ); backwards compatible.

Yes, I know, but I want to use a TV tuner with my Pegasos I. And to
use it on Pegasos I you need PCI graphic card.

And with PCI Radeon you can have AGP Voodoo and therefore dual monitor setup! Many would like that, so if you sell it, sell it to Pegasos user as many have difficulties to find PCI Radeons :)

I have a Radeon7500 with 64MB and Peg1 SmartFirmware doesn't recognize it. It's not recognized by PegasosII with latest update but it is recognized by ODW with more modern firmware than the latest public update.

    Says who?

It is possible to view TV with an AGP-Gfx-card on your Peg I - however you will have some drawbacks.

Biggest drawback is, that when using Overlay, the display will be distorted due to DMA problems with the Articia.

But you should be fine when using non-overlay; however in this mode AmithlonTV and/or Visionary might not be able to scale the display window - so to have something like a fullscreen, you have to use a screen that is about the size of the tv screen (768x576 for PAL) or use a standard 800x600 if you don't mind the small frame around the display.

Second drawback is the high cpu load due to using non-overlay mode, so you will not be able to to a lot of things at the same time when watching TV.

HAK: hmm.. does it work with separate PCI TV-card or built-in TV in AGP card or both?

As I never had one of those "all-in-one"-cards I can't comment on this one.
I only ever tried it with a Radeon 7000(AGP) and LifeView/Hauppauge combination.

I also installed an AGP gfx-card/PCI tv-card combination on the Peg1 of a friend, but I can't rembember now, which gfx-card it was (some Radeon for sure).

OK, no problem - if you want to buy this card I could sell it to you ;). Or if you write this message, because you know somebody who need this card - let me know.

But I must warn you - remember that this card don't work with my Pegasos I, and a can't promise you it will be work on Pegasos II. I tried this Radeon 9000 working good only with PC.

It's excelent information for me! :) Thanks for it!

Could you tell my closely what is the full name (some type numbers) of tv tuners, that you ever tested in Peg I, and witch was working good?

Because than I will try to find the same card as your - I think it help me to avoid new problems with tv tuner that could be not supported...

    Hi Adam_K,

Well, my LifeView FlyVideo I sold to a friend (as one tv card was enough anyway).

The Hauppauge card now sits in my PegII (would have to disassemble it to take a closer look as PCITools doesn't give me a hint).

I also don't know which tv card sits in the PegI of my friend - the one I might have mentioned earlier in this thread.

Will take some time to collect all this data - hopefully I don't forget it.
