Yeah, everyone here will take this as a joke (it is, partially). But there have been talks lately about finding a new "home" for MorphOS (nothing wrong with the Pegasos II, of course), and as it's common to mention anything that is PowerPC based, then...

Why not XBox 2? It's said that it will contain three dual core G5 processors from IBM. The ultimate power, coming from the ultimate (evil?) company?

All fantasy right now, but this product is announced for fall 2005. Seeing how slowly things develop in our land (due to the low number of developers, not their qualification), this could start to make sense.

Pity is, in this mad console market, free and open SDKs are not commonplace...

    Turn on the drivel!

I wanna see MorphOS in my mobile phone ;-)

But then, Opera will run in this Casio phone, but there's no Opera for MorphOS ... mmm...

Lol i dont see it as overkill

Look at the spec needed for doom3 on pc
    to run well 3.0ghz + PC .....

Anyway according to rumours there will
be 3 differenf flavours of Xbox Next

    1. Xbox next - no hard drive
    2. Xboxnext HD (with hard drive) Doh!!!
    3. Xboxnext PC (yep a personal computer come games console)

Obviously the 3rd one has my interest peaked.

Also the quality of hacks that has been done for the standard xbox giving you the option to
run the excellent media centre / linux etc
will surely be carried on on the next console
no matter how microsoft try to stop it...

modchips will come and set the machine free...

Maybe somone will even come up with a hack to allow it to run Macos straight out of the box
    and not a MOL implementation..

    Regards

The team abandonned the idea of having MorphOS run on BlizzardPPC and other Amiga based PPC machines. AmigaOS4 will though.

Guess what are your chances of having MorphOS run on the next XBox version? :-(

Not to be picky or anything but do Morphos really need 3 g5 processors to run smoothly?

No.. that's right. So stop this thread of evil microsoft conspiracy.

Of course not. I had another strange idea: Use all those CPU cores as a cluster of computers, instead of doing classic multiprocessing. Some kernel guru out there to stop my wilderness?

Funny thing, I had the notion that all (ex)amigans here were all grown up about the fear/hate to Microsoft. What's your point against them? What's technically bad with this new X-Box?

Not that my proposition has to be taken seriosly, of course.

Morphos works on Amiga Classic PPC but only internaly of MOS team :-?

MorphOS has a Hardware abstraction layer and it is the bigest thing to change. Then, there are GFX drivers and sound.
MorphOS seems to be very easly portable.

All this is nice but those BlizzardPPC owners will still be using AmigaOS 3.X or have moved on to AmigaOS4 instead of the logical solution which would have been MorphOS 1.X. :-(

@those who were interested in running MorphOS on apple machines :

Apple is about to release in 2005 a cheap iMac (specs are about the same as a Peg2) for less than 500USD
why bother buying an expensive Peg 2 motherboard when u can have a full apple machine for 500USD ?

Morphos will never run on Apple, unless a hack is released or something.

I don't think that we need new hardware, MorphOS already flies on the existing one.
It would be much more important to improve the stability and focus on projects like a state of the art webbrowser. In a second step, there could be 3D drivers for new ATI Radeon cards.
If this is done, you can start dreaming about MorphOS on new hardware platforms ;)
