My peg2 g4 is down...

It goes to the OF screen and tries to launch MOS but it never gets past the OF. Seems like there is some sort of problem. I tried alot of hardware stuff - changing cards and ram and such I think I need to see the debug log.

I have an A4000T here as well and 2 ibooks. I'd like to hook up the peg2 to my Amiga with a null modem cable and see the debug output. How do I do this? What freely available software for Amiga can I use? Also, what special setup do I need? Any and all help is appreciated.

It is very easy to obtain the serial debug.
Just connect the serial port of your Peg with that one of your Amiga (the slow Amiga serial port is fast enough) by using a null modem cable and boot with the according boot parameter (have to check the command for verbose debug output when I am at home). (Edit: of course the boot options are not of interest in your case, the first init puts always a serial debug)
On the Amiga just use some terminal software (I guess I use term, dunno for sure, Aminet has several terminal programms).
Configuration of the terminal is easy, just fetch all from the serial port (use a big buffer) and write it into a file.

I don't know the details from just remebering (not at home now) but it was *really* easy. if questions are still present I can check the details when at home.

Do you see the "Quark/Firmware"-something line?

If yes, try booting with the MOS original CD. If it boots, it's only your actual MOS installation that has a problem, or the HD its installed on.

Hi magnetic. I use a serial cable and a null modem adapter to do this. Plug end with the null modem adapter into your Amiga.

You can use any terminal program. Set the comm paramaters to 115200 8N1 no flow control.

I always use minicom in Linux.

Then I unplug the keyboard from the pegasos and reboot it, and read the output on the terminal's screen.

You can't go far wrong with Olaf Barthel's Term app for Amiga. It's on Aminet, comm/term directory (searching for it is a nightmare, but it is there :)
