    You will have to see what drivers are avail for others through it, but i use a SB Live card. The driver comes in the newer AHI packages. I like the sound much better over the onboard sound.

    Any can explain about this, please? The AHI developer, for example?

    AHI supports Audigy 2?

    What about this?

    I used to use a SoundBlaster Live! in my Peg-1, and then I switched to on-boards sound. I really didn't see any difference in CPU usage or quality when playing back MP3's on normal desktop stereo speakers.

    Perhaps if you had really high-quality speakers and were playing back clean CD audio you might see a difference. But for general desktop usage you won't see a difference between a Soundblaster live! and on-board peg-1 or peg-2 audio.

    From the Changelog:

    * emu10kx.audio: Replaced the EMU10k1 routing completely. Disabled
    most of the patch manager. Somebody needs to fix it for Audigy
    cards.

    @Poundsmack

    the sound you heard at Amiwest was from my Soundblaster Live card. With my speakeers you can hear a real diffrence between the two. Also at times the onboard sound would skip if I was doing a lot of things at once, with the live card I never have that problem.

    I agree with Acill here, his soundblaster live sounded 'punchier' if that's the right word for it. I have incredibly cheap altec lansing sub/satellite speakers on my system so it doesn't matter a great deal to me. Acill's sounds could have been better purely because of speaker quality :-)

    Re: sound skipping. You have to really bog the system down to make the sound skip...of course one surefire way of doing it is to run stuff that disable multi-tasking like, for example when you have a few screens open and CGX runs out of VRAM and has to do a buffer swap to main memory. That example is the only time I get a sound stutter/skip under regular use. (well, since I installed RexxMast to fix the Voyager bug ;-) )

    Cheers,

    Steve

    I am glad you were able to get it working for you! I also agree the sound is much cleaner then the onboard AC97 chip produces. Even more so if you have a good audio system.

    Currently no mixer is avail, but the levels that its at are just fine without one. I hear a live mixer is in the works though.
