Recently my laptop MorphOS hardware died and I went down to the basement to wake up an old Powermac G5. When trying the Moroph OS CD I got the "graphics card not supported message and it looks like I have a card from Nvidia think it looks like AGP connection.
The Powermac has serial CK438HGWQPR Then some ethernet and bluetooth info on the label.
I did find the hardware list over suitable GPU's but I am still unsure about some things before "shopping for anew card"
It has to be an AGP card so far I understand But I get a bit confused when I read that it can be cards for a windows system and not only mac cards ? If it is a Windows card Iguess it has to be "flashed" to work in an mac ?
So if anyone can giude me to a card that "works" and what to look for, I be very happy.
If it really is an AGP G5 you want to hunt down a genuine Apple card. Most common are variants of the Radeon9600 with 64–256MB. 9800 and cards in the lower X____ range also exist. Flashing PC cards of the same range is a hit and miss.
Newer AtomBIOS cards can work but without a fallback card that has both an Apple OF ROM and is supported by MorphOS you can only boot blind blocking all sensible option for installing or updating MorphOS.
Depending on where you live it might make more sense to hunt down a basic PCIe G5, keep the NVidia that it will most likely come with installed an add a PC Radeon. X1600-1950 or one of the listed HD____.
