Hello everybody, there is no wifi in my power mac g5 and I am experiencing some problems to buy the original card here. Perhaps there is a way to use more common wireless usb adapters, but which ones are needed if so?

No idea if such a PCI (or would you need PCIe?) card would work in the G5.

Buying a mobile router (often USB powered) is another option.

The Airport Extreme wireless cards usually fit into the slot on the mother/logicboard in Power Mac G5s without any trouble, and do a good job, as long as you have one of the PCI/AGP PowerMac G5 model, and as long as you fit the A1027 card, as the A1026 card seems to have problems working with MorphOS.

Actually the A1027 card can also be fitted into the PCIe model PowerMac G5 (A1117) systems, but you don't have the orienting guide/frame over the port, so you just have to ensure you fit the card the correct way round/up/down.

I have a spare A1027 card if you need one, but PM me if you want to buy it from me - for a fair price. You can either source your own aerials for the purpose for WiFi or I can supply a compatible aerial that you can plug in to the aerial port on the back of the Power Mac for a little extra.

If you want bluetooth capabilities within the limited framework of MorphOS's compatibility/capabilities such as using a 'paired' A1016 Apple bluetooth keyboard or similar keyboard or mouse then you can usually just plug in a generic bluetooth 'dongle' and that will enable the capabilities within the range of the 'dongle', which I have usually found to be sufficient for home use. Or, if you can locate one, then an Apple A1044 bluetooth board can be mounted on the PCI/AGP PowerMac G5 logicboard close to where the Airport card plugs in and use one of those in a similar way - but again, you will also need an aerial, similar to the WiFi aerial, to plug into the aerial port on the back of the PowerMac G5 to get good bluetooth connectivity. The A1044 bluetooth board will not fit on the A1117 PCIe PowerMac G5 boards directly as you need a "Runway" card (which you have little chance of acquiring) to connect the A1044 card onto, so I would suggest you consider the bluetooth 'dongle' in that case, if you want bluetooth on one of those systems. ;-)
