    Hi everyone,

i have no problem to share my smartphone connexion using wifi on the powerbook. For the x5000 i have no wifi card so i need another way to share. i have tried directly using usb it works on fienix but not on morphos.
Any idea ? Maybe it is not possible ?

    thanks
additional question which wifi card can i use on the x5000 ?

Dunno if MorphOS can do it but Mac OSX on the Powerbook can forward your Wifi connection via Ethernet with internet sharing.

I guess you should buy a compatible PCIe WiFi card or connect some wireless router through Ethernet and configure it to use your phone shared WiFi.

I guess your best bet is a card proven to work with PowerMac G5 PCIe:

A little, relatively cheap travel router or WAP is handy for times like these. They either connect phones, dongles, or insert SIMs, or all of the above, and usually have an ethernet connection.

Even better to have that functionality in your main router itself, so you can use the phone as a backup connection. Many routers do allow this. Check yours: if it has a USB socket, then it might do too.

Although as a warning: compatibility is be heavily dependent on the phone manufacturer (Apple in particular hate their users being able to do useful things) and the cellphone provider. Many providers specifically ban tethering and will send you angry texts.

Also as a warning: it is REALLY easy to go over your data limit and cost yourself a small fortune when tethering.

Why dont use a WLAN-Minirouter like this:
    https://www.reichelt.at/at/de/wlan-router-2-4-ghz-150-mbit-s-tplink-tl-mr3020-p118522.html?PROVID=2807&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI0Lyl4Yrx7AIVVj5gCh3HaQiLEAYYBiABEgKGxPD_BwE
Can be used as bridge from your mobilephone-Hotspot to ethernet.....
    Peg2, 3xPowerMac G5, 2xPowerbookG4, 2x MacMiniG4, Efika (again), A3000T and life is never boring.....

How should this help with a WiFi-less X5000?

Thanks, makes sense. I somehow managed to read over the part where he mentioned his PowerBook ;-)

That's why you can and should have a dual boot system in the first place: to complement MorphOS with the emergency tools and usability that comes with billions of use hours ... and $.🤪
