    Hi all!
I downloaded and tried MorphOS 3.2 on my G5 DP 2,5GHz with Radeon 9800XT and I am encountering a strange and irritating problem: 9 times on 10 the system is unusable! It boots but it's unusable because the CPU is almost 100% all the time. It's almost freezed so that also the mouse pointer takes several seconds to move from point x to point y...

What could be the problem? This happens also booting from 3.2CD..

I have Genuine Mac version Radeon 9800XT, 6GB of Ram and 128GB SSD formatted using PFS3.

Hello, perhaps reflashed Radeon 9800XT ?
Same here with my reflashed Radeon 9800 with PowerMac G4 (reduced rom), like MorphOS 3.0 and 3.1 does.

The Radeon is a genuine (and rare..) Mac Version.

I had a very similar problem on my G5. After a reinstall it seems to be working fine. I am going to be keeping a close eye on it. My Radeon is supposedly genuine G5 9800XT card.

While someone from MorphOS team decides to give us infos about the issue that me and others are having with G5, can someone tell me if I can remove the 9800XT and plug inside the G5 the 9000Pro I have on the MDD? I also have a 9800XT flashed (PC->Mac).

If the problem is the GFX board I could try another one while they fix the problem.

I have typicaly the same problem on my PowerMac G5 bi-G5 (7.3) with Radeon 9800 Pro 256 MB (Mac version).

When i do a reset with keyboard, MorphOS start very very slowly with bug graphic in Ambient title bar. After title bar is ok but i have no icons on desktop.

When i do a reset with Power reset, seems ok.

    Any ideas ?

I have a Radeon 9800 (mac ver) but I have problems only while trying to use 3D. Because of that I have a question - is there anyone willing to borrow his problematic Radeon to Bigfoot? I will organize shipping and will cover the costs.

I will go more test with week-end, if i have same problems, i could send my graphics cards to bigfoot ;-)

    edit : after more test:

MorphOS 3.2 is very very slow (CPU 100% ?) even after a reset via Power reset :-(

MorphOS work fine 1/10 after a power reset :-(

I can't get Return to Castle Wolfenstein to work, on my G5 stock Radeon 9600P, it gets to that bit with the generals talking in the room, then a black screen with the wolfenstein logo in the bottom right, and thats it, goes no further, problem with mine? Or the 3D Drivers in general?

Oh, forgot to say, tried MorphOS on my G5 Quad 2.5 with a X1900GT Radeon PCIe Graphics card, just you know, for the lulz.

Didn't work, obviously, just stays on a white screen, no writing, and the light on the mouse and shift of the keyboard go off.

I don't think I understand this question correctly. Your Radeon 9800 is not working correctly when rendering 3D, so you want to pay to ship someone else's Radeon 9800 to Bigfoot so he can figure out why the 3D is not working and fix the 3D driver?

Did you mean "to lend his problematic Radeon to Bigfoot", instead of "to borrow"?

Why aren't you just sending him your Radeon 9800 to check why it is not working correctly?

I went through the whole game on PowerBook with R9600 (killing the Heinrich I at the end :-) ), so I guess it is not general drivers problem. I suspect game files corruption.

It uses the 3D part of the GPU, but not any 3D driver.

    Reinstalled it, got it working.Yah.

To be honest, this game does absolutly nothing for me.

But then, I always prefered Doom to Quake, so, well, there you go..

I decided to remove the 9800XT from my G5 system and replace it with a 9600XT that I had in a spare G5. So far, I haven't had any of the issues that I had experienced with the 9800XT card installed, i.e. choppy mouse movements, slow for Ambient to appear etc...

Thanks for your report. This is a sort of confirmation that the problem is related to the 9800XT.
It seems that after we waited years to have a 9800 running on MorphOS this is still not happened. I hope someone in the morphos team is working on the problem.

Papiosaur was very kind to borrow his problematic 9800 card to BigFoot for developement purposes so hopefully he will be able to track the issue.

I wanna hijack this thread a little by asking if anyone else has experience low sound on the G5 (2,7 GHz)? I have volyme and every setting at max but even though it's not too bad it's hardly as good as the sound with the same speakers on my Mac Mini 1,25 Ghz.

    Suggestions?
