i guess you all did not activated ramdebug, so exceptions and hits are trown to serial debug out (which can slow down when many hits happens).

    @trima:

for the IB image loading problem: go to IB prefs and set decoding priority for images to "-10" and these problems will be gone.

So "boot /pci/ide/disk@0,0:0 boot.img ramdebug" solves the problem?

This is using 512MB DDR and with the ramdebug option.

EDIT: It has the same problems with SimpleMail adding rules to the filters (slowdown making the sytem unusable and rarely crash).

I use two sticks of 256MB Corsair dual Chan. RAM with no problems at all. It may due to the fact that this RAM is top rated memory. It was close to $150 and sold as a pair.

Do you use SimpleMail? Do you checked if you has problems with SimpleMail adding rules to the filters? I have more 28 filters, and a lot with various rules, but using more than a rule seems not runs correcly (seems a bug in SimpleMail).

Yes I use Simplemail every day and I have about the same number of filter rules as you. Some for email announce from here, and several other sites. All my yahoo groups have a rule for each message, my ebay accounts have rules for them, my family is seperated, work, ect. Never any problems at all. I even have spam detect on auto now and it filters that just fine with 90% accurate results.

But do you probed adding some rules on one filter? By example, add 6 rules...or more.

Here occour some rare thing, now the system crashes always with
Ibrowse 2.3 and sometimes with SimpleMail 0.23 MOS, the app crashs and
after this crash, but the mouse runs ok, later ambient crash too but
mouse still running correcly, then all the system is unusable, maybe
move the windows but nothing more...

    What occour?

And What about "boot /pci/ide/disk@0,0:0 boot.img FullHit ramdebug"?
seems boot faster, if this can cause some problems i probed without
    "FullHit" and without "ramdebug".

Im using now Voyager because there are no other option...

I've never had luck with Ibrowse on my machine. It runs, but many sites cause it to lockup. I can usualy get out of it and use my system, but ibrowse will not start again after and i end up just rebooting. I use V as the primary browser. When I had my A3000 Ibrowse was the only installed browser I had, so I got used to it and miss it a lot. I know others report no problems wit it, but i have a test partition i made with nothing other then a clean install of MOS 1.4.2 and the Ethernet drivers. It locks up just the same if I boot from it and use it.

    1. make sure 68k applications have enough stack (check icon information and increase here, IBrowse needs a lot stack, so better do not add too less)

    2. when you have activated ramdebug then use the GetRamDebugLog tool to save the ramdebuglog to disk. You'll find this tool on beta2ftp. Without this information noone can sure say why the apps crash for you. Could be anything or nothing.

    3. Again my tips for IBrowse (besides increasing the stack): go to settings and set the priority for the image deconding threads to -10. It for sure improves the feeling.

    4. Make sure you use latest boot.img for your System (Peg1/2) from beta2ftp, make also sure you use latest library updates from beta2ftp.

Else i only can say: that i do not have problems with IBrowse. Cannot say anything about SimpleMail (tested only the 68k version a while ago, which crashed easily when played around with the attachements of a mail, but this was for sure a bug in the App and not in Mos. SimpleMail is still in his 0.x days and will probably improve a lot until it will be bumped to 1.x).

Before you install many apps at once, make sure the app you install runs properly. Start it, test around and check ramdebug. If that all works well then you can be more sure that this app will not crash in future and kill other apps.

    regards,
    tokai

    1. What stack size do you think that can need IBrowse? Before, IBrowse
was runned correctly, why now not?

    2. I use Pegasos II, how to access the beta2ftp?

    3. I was changed the priority for the image decoding threads to -10
some time ago bfore having those problems...

    4. See 2.

This was runs perfectly, no problems with crashing except about
Simplemail adding more than one rule. But after, this has problems,
and I dont installed apps, but executed some from ram:, some virus? I
don't installed warez as if I want a software really I buy it, and I
    don't install/use software that I don't like (as a lot people from
    windows do).

yeah why not you know MOS is a very efficient OS.
This efficient use of resources allows MorphOS to run with 512b off DDR ram ;-) :-D

I have had similar problems with a couple of Apps, I don't think that
ram is an issue as I have 1024mb installed... but I do have a question
regarding mos1.4.2 I have never been able to get it too boot on My
pegII. would my 1gig infineon Dimm be the problem??? or my Voodoo
    5500 Agp???

now that i think of this maybe i should start a new thead.

Open prefs window, select "Network" (Network, not any "subcategory") and there you can set the priorities...

I was also having problems with 2 memory modules installed (256 + 256M)

Sometimes I got weird SFS error messages, like "Volume - - has checksum error on block 78" (And I sure do NOT have a volume called - -, and sometimes the name was other combination of seemingly random characters)

Also SFScheck found errors on most of my partitions (especially after that request) BUT the errors were usually different, if I ran sfscheck again, or then they just disappeared (or appeared again, if volume was "all ok")

When watching movies, I could hear "clicks" (as if there was error in the audio data) relatively often, but usually if I rewinded movie back a bit, it didn't click at the same place...

I removed the second memory module 36 hours ago, and my Peg-2 has been on since then, no problems at all.

Oh, and when I have both modules installed, memtest doesn't find any problems, even if I run it seweral times...
