I am going to buy a USB2.0 card. Who can share his experience with them?
I have at least two choices. First of them is STLab U142 (uses NEC D720101GJ chip) and second of them is VIA VT6212 which is twice cheaper.
What works and what doesn't? Both in MorphOS and Linux.
    iPod, iBook, iMac,... iRobot?

The 2.0 driver is developed for NEC cards, so I'd go with NEC. I have a VIA card in y PegII, and e.g. printer does not work if connected to the 2.0 card, have to quite often unplug and then replug my card reader to get it work, and atm I can't get my mobilephone to work as massstorage.device if connected to the 2.0 card. All these work wihtout any problem with the PegII builtin USB1.1

    Hi Sonic:

Similar to what the other guys have suggested. I would probably go with NEC since it was developed for that chip.

I have tried a bunch of different usb2 cards. In the end I'm using a VIA card. (Sorry don't have any info on cards right here). I found the newer the card, the better chance it was going to work.

My Peg 2 is currently dead, so I can't test the cards anymore...

    Good luck,

    Matt

it's just funny that everyone is recommending a NEC card but run a VIA one :-)

I'm using a NEC card here, tried VIA and ALI cards as well. NEC performs best, ALI is second and VIA was simply too unreliable for regular use.

    Hi all,

The spiderUSB2 from Elbox, an Amiga vendor, works too. I read this in another
    USB2 forumposts. So, if i want an USB2 card, i shall choose for the Spider;

Hmm paying Hellbox 79Euro (+p&p) for what can be bought locally at 10-15Euro sure sounds like great idea .....

    @Sonic
just today I bought a card with the exact same NEC chip for 11.08Euro , 4 external 1 internal works like a charm.

I got a NEC card, and the Peg2 refuses to boot here too. Some problem
    with the OF it seems.

I use an NEC card here, DO NOT get a spider. Its just a generic NEC based card that Elbox flashed and rebadged. They charge way more then its worth.

Also you need to register posiedon and get a keyfile to use a USB 2.0 card or you will suffer time outs after several MB of data moves through the card with any device connected to it.

    Hi,

after testing several types of USB 2.0 cards (well I tested 5 different ones) I found that the Exsys card which has 3 ext. + 1 int. port was the best/most stable.

I use the card now for several month without any problems. The chip is a NEC 0720101GJ.

Here is a link to a picture of it.

Crikey. I've had an NEC chipset USB2 card plugged into my Peg2 since September and I never knew it was supported.

Damn. Want to get home to try it now!

Try to disable usb support in open firmware (something like "setenv usb-enable? false"). This worked for me.

That fixed it indeed. Unfortunately Poseidon says "Ignoring
automounting request: Blocksize 2048 bytes (CD or DVD?)" when I plug
in my mp3 player. No idea how to non-auto mount it either. :)

Still no luck. Giggledisk gets only read error on the device (after
trying for a long time). It works just fine in linux though. I guess
it should be possible to get some useful info from linux, but I have
no clue how to do that. Anyone has some hints?

I guess this might be Poseidon related issue and is most likely fixed in v3.6 , but you'll have to wait or MOS1.5, since Poseidon 3.6 will most likely not be published separately for MorphOS...

Workes ok for some things others not.
    Not printer or digital camera.
Does work with a mp3 player usb stick(1GB).

    Hi,

I've just bought a NEC card from relec. Do I need to install any
drivers to get it to work? Poseidon (v3.3) does not even realize that
something new is plugged to the system.

    Thanks!

Winterhunter : If your card is not recognized, you can put parameters in Poseidon yourself. Look this screenshot :

Yes, you can get the drivers here. You should install both for a nec card. And remember to register poseidon if you haven't already.

I have installed the SUB drivers from Nicolas DET, and i have declared
    the devices as follows:
    Name Unit
    uhciusb.device 0
uhciusb.device 1 (this one and the above are the peg MB)
    ehciusb.device 0
    ohciusb.device 0
    ohciusb.device 1

That is all I can get Poseidon to recognize on my NEC card (from
    Relec).

However, when I plug ANYTHING into it, the port dies after some MBs...
    Any ideas why?

(BatteMan : oui, les accents puent ici :-D)
