Sorry in advance if this is a stupid question.

I have installed the latest nightlybuild (21102006) of ambient.

Is sound (AHI) and USB support (Posidon) installed and configured automaticly in that release?

It looks like it is, but I can't get sound to work and the USB will not open my FAT flashdrive (is that a cross dos quesiton). I use the builtin AC97 soundcard.

Any good advice in that regard would be greatly appreciated.

One again sorry for all filling up the forum with all theese newbee questions.

    Hello JohnFante,

first of all to avoid confusion: Ambient is just the Desktop (the application which displays the icons and lets you launch other applications and manage your files). It's just another part of the OS like Audio/AHI or Poseidon/USB stuff. So updating Ambient doesn't update Poseidon or AHI.

    About your problems:

If you want to mount FAT USB drives with Poseidon you must install fat95 from Aminet (www.aminet.net). Just copy "fat95" file from the archive to SYS:l/ (SYS is your System partition). Then it usually works.

For the audio problem: check if you have PegasosMixer in your SYS:wbstartup/ drawer and it is properly configured. If that isn't the solution I need more details what exactly doesn't work in your audio setup (tried to launch just Kaya or AmiNetRadio and play a mp3?).

    regards,
    tokai

    Thanks Tokai.

I have solved the problem. It was a problem with my KVM switch that killed the sound and USB.
