Make sure you have upgraded to the latest Poseidon stack for MOS
first. I use a Logitec Dual Action just fine after I did that. Before
It would work as a gamepad, it would act as a mouse.

    Hi,

Thanks, updating Poseidon made the joypad work.

But somehow the joypad controls not as clear as the keyboard.

I can not move straight up.
    I always move either up+right or up+left.
    Hmm, strange.

    Cheers

Yeah, had the same problem, even though I updated Poseidon. Never got the pad working correctly :-(

You can edit the way the pad works. Go to system settings and select USB, then click on devices and select your game pad. Look under the action tab and you can start messing with the config. I had to edit my buttons because I hated the layout. Just make sure you select "Use" at forst so you can have it as default untill you find a setting you like and then "Save"

Am still playing around here with both a Play Sation 2 control pad via a USB adapter as well as a real USB control pad by Microsoft. Both behave the same.

Since I'm no gamer at all, I don't know and haven't found any game supporting them already per default. (If you can tell me some game which does 100% work with USB control pads under MorphOS, please let me know; many thanks in advance!)

Therefore I just tried the rawkey mapping function of Poseidon, e.g. with "myTetris", mapping the control pad's buttons to the cursor keys. But while it BASICALLY does work, it's unusable actually, since quite often suddenly there come in many signals from the pad, resulting in some kind of "auto fire", balthough in Poseidon the keys are just configured to the event "down".

So my question is: Is this just some local bug here on my system or incompatibility of both of my control pads, respectively, or is there no real useability of USB control pads under MorphOS at all yet?

As I said, any hints for really working games are very welcome.

My setup: Latest public version of Poseidon, Pegasos II/G4, MorphOS 1.4.2, Radeon 7500 i.e. no 3D drivers.

Basically there are 2 choices of how to configure a USB gamepad.

Either you map (some) controls to be accessible via lowlevel.library, or you map them to the keyboard.

There aren't THAT many morphos-compatible games that support joystick control via lowlevel.library without any keyboard support.
