The last printer I bought off eBay had problems (it was heavily used and busted to boot) so I'm in the market for another printer for use on my Pegasos-MorphOS 1.4.5 system.

Who has a printer that works great?

I will go out and hunt down a model, but I don't want anything that has half-baked support under MOS or forces me to spend hours troubleshooting and tweaking the installation. My preference is for a parallel port printer but I will go USB if that's the way to go.

I'm a Papyrus user so I want a printer that works great with that, but also works great with things like MorphED, FxPaint, and so on.

I look forward to your suggestions!

PS: I do know there is a list of supported printers in System Preferences but I'd rather hear from someone "I have X, and it works great."

You should check out some of the older forums on Turbo Print - there are people who posted fully working printers there..

    Magnetic,

I searched MZ on the topic before posting but didn't find much. Even in the one post from the person who tested several Epson printers successfully, he says he had latest version of "GS850" installed, so what is that, something extra to find?

I just want a printer that works well with MOS with the minimum of trouble and extra stuff.

I'm using the HP 6127 (USB or Ethernet), I believe the 6122 has
    parallel.

Pros:network printing, was easy to setup, never jams, can duplex print,
ink cartriges last a long time, large buffer, and is very fast overall.

Cons: is a bit loud and obnoxious when printing.

    I don't use Papyrus, so I don't have a comment.

I do use finalwriter, morphed, checkitout on MOS. I use
graphicspublisher and pagestream on my 3k. Works just fine for all
    the apps I use.

The only issue I found in setup is that the printer driver wasn't
given with TP under MOS, so I had to copy it from my licensed version
    on my 3k.

    Good luck.

Epson C84 works perfectly for me.

It needs TurboPrint 7.60, whose installation is described here.

The article was written before the printer patch and MorphOS 1.4.4/1.4.5. Now all programs print perfectly. Best results with the USB port; if you use the parallel port, you should disconnect the reset pin in the cable connector.

    Cheers.

I agree, the Epson C84 works perfectely at least when connected via USB and TP 7.60 has to be installed.

The Epson C84 is also a very cheap printer and it prints full A4 size (using PS:)!

When installing GhostScript 8.50 and using the PS handler, I can print out of ALL programs I use on the Peg like MorphED, YAM, ArtEffect4, FXPaint2, Papyrus, PageStream, DirOpus 5...

    @ magnetic

You will be glad to know that TurboPrint 7.60 also contains a driver for the Epson C64.

HP Deskjet 697C works with 672C driver.
There have been a few different "parallel.device"
I find the one around 20k works best with peg1.

I have a Hewlett-Packard Deskjet 932C printer. Its working with MOS
1.4.5 thru the USB port very well. I selected the HP 930C printer
driver in MOS (Poseidon shows it as a HP 930C anyway) and simply
selected port and 'usbparallel.device' unit 0 in the appropriate
requestors. Set it for US letter and away I went :-)

HP Laserjet 5l here, works great in 300x300 dpi but in 600x600 prints 1/3 of page (maybe printer memory problem)
