Because I was writing on a thread in offtopic, I write this separated and some more detailed:

This was runned correctly, crash on Simplemail when adding more than a one/two rules but nothing more. But after some time appeared the problems:

    - The system completely crashed when copying/deleting files from HDD/CD (a drawer with 8mb in files by example),

    - It crashes when executing IBrowse (the small window showing the copyright things appear and after a short time, the cpu led stops of show light. If you put in front a window, the small window was drawed with some of the other window, if clicking some ambient icon, then is as selected and can't unselect or select other icon, windows are freezed too, and then mouse freezed. It's possible reset with CTRL+A+A if you do it when beginning this horror,, after some time of use the key it reboots).

    - Voyager sometime crashes after some intensive use and it's slow loading pages

-sometimes the internet connection not works at beginning or after some time of use.

    - It seems crash after intensive use of the system.

I personally think that this is a hardware motherboard problem, but I'm not an expert for afirm this.

I was probed the copying/deleting issue from MorphOS 1.4.2 CD and failed exactly and I was changed the memory from:

    Quote:

    Memory chips:

    ACE
    EC064088JD
    M73408

    Stick:

    512MB DDR 400MHZ
    64Mx64 PC3200

    To:

    Quote:

    Kingston ValueRAM 512MB DDR400 PC3200 model: KVR400X64C3A/512

And still the same problems. I can say the memory chips info if is needed.

On this machine I don't seen SFS error messages.

Here is debuglog getted from getramdebuglog and booted from MorphOS 1.4.2 CD using "boot cd boot.img ramdebug" http://www.iespana.es/damospena/morphos.log
The action used for the debug log was trying to delete and old backup of Simplemail from HDD.

If It needs more tests, please say to me and I will make it.

I'm waiting the registration to beta2 mailing list, so I'm saying this while waiting the subscription to the mailing list.

This system has the memory that is writed and:

Maxtor 80gb HDD, using 3 partitions ( bi0: 57,2 MB, dh0: 906.4 MB, dh1: 74.4 GB), internet connection by the 10/100 ethernet onboard. an Plexwriter 48/24/48, ps/2 keyboard and mouse.

    Test 1: Only CD...

It runs correctly, no problems about massive amounts of data and one big file that fits on RAM:, not problem running executing from hard disk.

Test 2: With HDD but not using it...
    It ends crashing...

Test 3: Move 512MB DDRam module to other slot

Occours the same as if is in the other slot...

Test 4: HDD on secondary using the cable used on the CD
    Same as in the primary

Test 5: HDD on primary using the cable used on the CD
Same as with the cable used on HDD
    --

    HDD is on primary master
    CD is on secondary master

i dont know what to tell you. I have none of these problems. I do know others using low grade RAM do though. The Kingsom RAM you have was reported as one of worst to use. Even though them memtest shows it as passing. RAM is the last place you want to try and save money. The other problem could be your cables you are using. Have you tried to connect just the HDD and the CD-ROM on seperate cables and on seperate IDE headers as master units?

I see i missed that part about the drives. there is a list on the site of good RAM to use thats added to. Take a look at it. You should look for RAM with Samsung chips the last I heard. mine are not samsung, but they are overclocker high end Corsair RAM. You can get that RAM from any hight end reseller. Newegg.com or outpost.com bith have it in stock.

    Did you try another HDD?

Did you make sure to specify Master drive and not use Cable Select?

You list a lot of software crashes...can you even test the same software when you boot from CD? (Since you don't have certain classes installed on a standard MOS1.4.2 that IBrowse would need for example.) If you are assigning to directories on the HDD and the HDD is bad or supplying bad data then the programs should still crash (in theory) right?

Did you check Maxtransfer and Mask are default settings on the partitions you use?

    Thanks,

    Steve

PS. I wouldn't take Kingston Valueram if it was free...but the memory test seems to be OK.

    1. No, because I don't have actually other.

    2. Yes, I'm sure, checked.

    3. With CD only software no crashes, only when HDD is installed, even
if I don't use it... When testing from CD I was bnot asigning software
from HDD, not using it, only CD stuff...

    4. No, how check that?

    5. Then say me models, please...
