Can we get the r300 driver without all the other stuff that comes with 3.2?
I just need the full 3d driver to make me happy.
    :-D

    Anyone else feel that way?

Yes, now you can throw stuff at me, flame, curse, ban, and lecture.

I was hoping that we could get both the R300 3D video driver AND a working PowerMac G5 release, without having to wait for the official release of MorphOS3.2, but from the comments I have read here by a couple of the MorphOS Dev. Team members, it sounded like both of those things would be held back until MorphOS3.2 was ready for official release.

I hope I am wrong, or if I am right, I hope that MorphOS3.2 is released sooner, rather than later.

That's sad because even a MOS 3.1 setup with R300 support would make most systems much faster than the current performance we get. Anyway, I hope we will get them all sooner than later :)

    @AmigaDave

It's a big update - modifications to boot.img as well as everything else.

It would be a relatively complex update for users to apply as an intermediate update (manually copying files to boot partition, mossys, etc & if it goes wrong resulting in a non-booting system), or require an install script to be written and tested on multiple setups. On top of that the updated components require testing anyway... it probably gets to a point where it would be pretty much twice the work to do an intermediate - then later a seperate 3.2 - release.
There's also the issue of other non-G5, non-Powerbook systems where users may just not apply the intermediate update (or only partially apply the update). You've then got a possible situation where problems/bug-reports require a full version list of files (ie more than just the 3.x release point) - messy.

Better just to wait for a numbered, qulity checked & tested release imho (as much as I'd love to be playing RTCW on the Powerbook).

(FWIW I'd also be interested in bumping forward Wireless support a well as 3D and G5 support if an intermediate release was considered... but then where do you stop? :-) )

It's only a guess, but I'd say "most systems" aren't PowerBook, and can thus be fitted with "currently tinygl supported" graphics card. Also, I don't think much software we currently have would be getting "significantly faster" with R300, as most run already quite fine on Radeon 8500 / 9100 / 9000 pro (which is the best "currently supported")

I don't think we would be seeing much "getting faster", but MUCH more "working, when it didn't work at all before".

Also, I remember it being said that MorphOS 3.2 would definitely be released this year.

Mark is not going to disappoint us.
    We will get the driver.

You guys just need to be patient.

I bought Power mac hardware before support was introduced.

I have R300 video cards, even though we only have 2D support right now.

We will get 3D, don't be pushy.

And, when we have both R300 3D support and G5 support performance will be remarkably better.

Mind you, I still keep going to http://www.morphos-team.net/
and misreading "30.01.13 - MorphOS 3.2 Software Development Kit - Final Release" as "30.01.13 - MorphOS 3.2 something something - Finally Released"

    Just me then?
