you can use cdrom or ISO, with "rtcw" label mounted

If you have installation problems (I had), you can copy the files manually.
Bigfoot was so kind to tell me which files to copy from the Platinum Edition CDs:

CD1: sp_pak1.pk3
CD2: autoexec.cfg, hunkusage.dat, mp_pak0.pk3, pak0.pk3

All files have to copied into the game's "main" directory.
Probably similar files have to be copied from other RTCW versions.

The installation process puts the needed files to the correct place, that's what the installation process is for after all. So it wouldn't make any sense to change file locations afterwards.

Once you got it installed, I would like to hear if anybody with a G3 did successfully run this game. On my Pegasos2/G3 the "Single Player" program immediately crashes with a Program Exception. The exceptions are triggered by AltiVec instructions.

Can anybody confirm that?

Seems to be a compiler/SDK problem, which emits AltiVec instructions.
I'm sure there will be an update soon.

I burned my iso using fryingpan, (selected data/audio tracks dropped iso into window, pressed write- onto a black CD) it came out as a numerical unmounted dvd iconed volume in my morphos. Selecting it opens up the cd with a wolfenstein folder with the following Folders - Bin, Conversione ita, DirectX, Docs, Extras, Setup
Files were - AUTORUN.EXE, autorun.inf, AUTORUN.INI, setup.exe, setup.ini
I assume the files I need are in Bin, but all i see is autorun, autorun.ini demo32.exe and Rtcw.dbd.

I also can't mount it as it appears as a numerical volume, and I can't rename.

If it was unmounted MorphOS wouldn't have shown an icon for it.

so to endulge you it is not initially mounted on workbench, but in the my morphos, folder with an icon which also displays all drives, vol. ect.
yes it is recognized but not on my screen to view, which means i looked in mymorphos for it(how else would i know)
yes technically it is mounted but not as rtcw, and as a cd or iso yes it ca't be renamed, so it remains as a numeric volume.

now mounting the iso produces the same issues
Lastely you will probably disect this somemore, so unless you have a solution besides purchasing the cd, give it a rest, as I'm not that pressed to solve this

Mounting happens on dos.library level, not on Workbench or Ambient. So it is mounted, as I said. As to why the icon is only shown in MyMorphOS I don't know, though.

The volume name is written in the ISO image header. It may be that MorphOS assigns a pseudo-random numerical volume name if the volume name 'field' in the header is empty or corrupted. In any case, if it's not shown as 'rtcw' that's simply because that's not the name of the ISO image.

Actually, the header and thus the volume name of an ISO image *can* be changed. There're numerous tools to do this. You can try http://aminet.net/package/disk/cdrom/Edison for instance. Alternatively, you can try to create an assign for 'rtcw:' to the volume with the numerical name. If your ISO image is (apart from the name) identical to one of the original versions that are recognized by the RtCW installer this may work.

@ Jambalah glad you're up, Ithink I'm dealing with different files from the reg ver. and I notice that the setup folder has the setup.exe which
is approx 700meg. I assume that my files are locked in there...oh well..back to spunging

Of course you would create the assign *before* you start the RtCW installer. If it searches for a volume called "rtcw" it should attempt to use your mounted ISO image then, provided it's really the volume name the installer is going by.

yea I did assuming I did it right (mounted iso ctrl E typed rtcw: then assigned to numeric vol iso-234xxxxx)
ran installation but no go so I guess my iso has an issue somewhere

Why not dl the SDK and compile it yourself on your g3? Shouldnt it str8t compile?
