Anyone know if these games will work on an Efika?

    Software Tycoon
    Airline Tycoon DLX
    Feeble Files
    Foundation Gold
    Nightlong
    Payback
    Earth 2140

    Thanks for any help.

All works more or less well on MorphOS 2.x on Pegasos II, and they needs less than 100 MB of memory to run.

BTW, Airline Tycoon needs 128 MB of RAM, so you will reach the memory limit of the Efika 5200B.

Foundation Gold has problems with MorphOS. it starts but hangs after a few minutes. Often you don't even come into the game itself.

Ok thanks just making my mind up to buy an Efika again or wait for the Mac Mini Release of MorphOs. Not sure how long I can wait.

about Payback - demo runs on Efika, but extremely slow - don't know how the full version performs though (seems something's messed up with demo - AFAIR it worked faster on 040/40 and AGA).

Depending on for much you can afford, I think it's worth it to have an Efika. Directron still has them for $99. I ordered one a while back and it cost a total of $110 with shipping( 66.69 Pounds). I live in the UK, but I have a US Military post office box, so if some one was worried about the shipping cost or customs fees I would be happy to order an Efika for them. It cost more to take the family out for a day than to buy an Efika, or about the price of two new XBox 360 games. When you look at the price of classic PPC hardware, I think it's worth having a few backup less expensive mainboards put away. I have two and may order one more before long.

Well, i think the Mac mini is cheaper, if you see the power it offers compared to the Efika. Now that ppc-support is discontinued after osx leopard, chances are good that prices for ppc minis (or ppc macs generally) will lower.

Yes, I may have purchased my 1.5GHz G4 MacMini a few months too soon. It will be interesting to see how quickly the prices of PPC Macs fall after Snow Leopard is released if it does not support PPC any longer. I may then have to look for a great deal on a top of the line dual 2.7GHz G5 PowerMac (or what ever the fastest G5 model was) loaded with some great video editing software for free with it, as they are replaced with Dual Xenon Macs by small studio editors.

    @Nitro,

I like my Efika and the price I paid for it through Directron, with the case & PSU, but why would anyone want more than one of them? I see it as a great little machine to learn about MorphOS on, but the limited RAM on it makes it less than perfect for a lot of uses that the MacMini, or Peg2 are suitable for with their greater capabilities.

I would still like to see someone crack the OF to allow another 128mb of RAM to be added to the underside of the Efika some day. That would make it much more useful and a really great little energy efficient computer with MorphOS and perhaps dual booting a small light Linux distro too.

I just recently burned a copy of CRUX 2.5 PPC to try on my Efika and may have some time to install it tomorrow.

I think it's a good idea to have some spares around. It's harder to find Pegasos 1 & 2's for sale. Sure the Efika only has 128MB ram, but so does my A1200 PPC and the later cost more than 10 times more to build. It's great that a MorphOS Mac port is coming, but what kind of hardware support will Apple have for discontinued Macs a few years from now. BPlan have been very good about fixing their discontinued products.

Try to turn off the audio volume? At least on Peg1 it slows down things... maybe audio.device emulation issue.

Seems you're right. I thought it was a video issue... well, thanks a lot mate, that did the trick. I wonder how the full version performs.

Btw, they are not alone on that.

Similarly here with Peg1... but it's said to run ok on Peg2, so maybe emulating the audio just needs some more horsepower. Or does anyone else know any tricks?

"OS-legal Paula access routines are now used on the 68k version for compatibility with Amithlon. (The PPC version still accesses Paula directly for extra speed.)" - That explains why it doesn't work properly. 68k version works with sound on MorphOS, but it is much slower than PPC one of course.
Maybe someone could ask Apex Designs directly, or write a patch or sth :).
