    Though some of you might have noticed, HAK's been busy lately, providing one SDL game port after another! Here's a summary of the latest submisions:

    Lmarbles :

    Nice and addictive atomix clone.

    MirrorMagic :

    A game like "Deflektor" (C 64) or "Mindbender" (Amiga).

    Xlogical :

    A nice Log!cal clone for MorphOS.

    Alienblaster :

    Shoot-em-up-game for one or two players.

    /me thanks HAK, and is going for another round of Alienblaster...kaboom!!

    Hello guys,

    Mirrormagic and xlogical need usergroup.library which is not included in their respective archive. Where to find that missing library ?

    It's part of AmiTCP but you can also get MuFS_UserGroup.lha from aminet and copy the library to libs:usergroup.library.

    This library will also be created in RAM when starting Miami (like the bsdsocket.library).
    That's why I didn't realize this "problem" as I'm always online.

    Hi luky-amiga & lisardman,

    Concerning the ports of Homeworld and bzflag.

    Of course I can try to port those games, but please think of the following:

    1) Porting bigger games needs - naturally - more time. So, instead of porting several smaller games (for people with different tastes e.g people who prefer think games or shoot-em-up games) I would have to concentrate on one game in this time - which means I can only "serve" people who would like this sort of game.

    2) Those two games especially need 3D hardware support to be played in a reasonable manner.
    Of course I would get help from the maintainer of the tinygl.library (which I know from IRC as a very supporting/helpfull person). But AFAIK a newer version of this library will only be released to public with MOS1.5 as some parts depend on it, meaning that you wouldn't be able to play it, even if a port exists - look for example at the 3d ports on the SDL-support-site.
    (Oh, btw, I too would not be able to test all functionality as I don't have 1.5 myself).
    The other possiblity would be to write this program as a WarpUp program so that at least people with Voodoos would be able to play them as soon as this port would appear (always assuming of course that this port is faster than MOS1.5 :) ) but this is a path I personally would like to avoid as people still would like a native version meaning that I would have double the work.

    Bye HAK

    ...and did I mention

    Viruskiller :

    Nice shoot-em-up which builds the directories/files to defend from your own harddisk.

    Rumours go that HAK is intentionaly and secretly undermining MOS-development, getting mos-dev's to play instead of code. Can't blame them :-P

    That BOR has an SDL equivalent or something?

    Bor looks nice ..(nice to have) but not desperately..
    I checked the code, some code is in assembly and that would be a pain in the *ss to be ported.
    ..there will be only one left.

    Someone has a non-worthing port, no sound too... Then the work seems easier...

    Dunno what 'non-worthing' means, but my port works for sure. Just no sound. I converted vesa stuff to SDL. Same for input (no joystick support. only keyboard, but adding that should be easy). If anyone want sources, then email me or ask on #morphos. I didn't finish it because after playing for a while it turned out to be quite boring.

    Boring in programming or game fun? If the second, try mods, a lot of them are quite funny.

    @timofonic:
    The game was boring. Didn't want to spend time on it (didn't know about any mods or things like that). I doubt i will return to it though. Have more interesting ones to work on. But if anyone is interested....

    @luky:

    I agree 100%. The one i'm porting now (since 2 weeks:) is "quite" big. Don't ask me for details though. It won't work on MOS 1.4 anyway (well, there is a small chance, but i will have to check if speed will be fine). I tried homeworld too, but not for long. Maybe after the next one i want to try:)
