    Hello,

I can start WipeOut on my Pegasos II and a play a while (usually one run and a half), and then the game crashes...

Anybody knows how to fix that? I noticed a link for what seems to be patch: WipeOutLoader but the link is broken...would it solve my problem? Does anybody know how I could get it?

you can find a wipeout loader in this pakage.

MVP V1.0 - MorphOS Value Package - is available

    https://morph.zone/modules/news/article.php?storyid=610

there are a lot of nice tools on this pakage.

Wipeout works fine with the patch delivered on MVP.

    Have fun.

Indeed... it works even so great that it's going to fast
so don't play the Rapier or Venom Class,
It's going Toooo fast on Pegasos G4 :)

    Not playable :(

Thanks for the links! The MVP archive is great but when you have only a 56 K connection you appreciate the possibility to download individual files rather than download a 50 Mbytes+ archive...
Anyway it would be perfect if it worked but I have experienced some problems with the archive submitted by bigfoot (didn't try the one in the MVP package - yes I managed to download it in the end).
The problem I previously experienced with WO2097 on my PegII was that the game worked well and fast (maybe too fast?) to crash, usually in the middle of the second race.
Then I installed the WipeOutLoader following the readme instructions: copying 'WipeOutLoader' file into WO2097 directory, making a copy of the WO2097 icon, renaming it to WOLoader.info and then changing the status from 'project' to 'tools'.
The outcome is that the game loads; the first race runs good. Then during the second race enters some short game freeze. This problem then occurs more and more until it becomes very painful to continue to play - from the readme I understand I now experience the bug the patch was supposed to fix!

    Any advice?

"the game worked well and fast (maybe too fast?)"

    As i said before.....

    "Any advice?"

Buy a PSX1 and WO2097, if you already have,
Play it on that, you want to play it only on the the Pegasos ?!
Get a TV Card and put the Output of PSX1 in the
    Video Input ;-)

OK, ok - just wanted to point out that it seems that the patch is creating the bug it was supposed to fix (at least on my PegII - G4)

I and probably all the MorphOS users want to run Wipeout2097 on our OS & HW and not need of 3rd hardware stuff, the best goal for a computer platform is that their users not need other computer platoform for do that they needs to do (or mainly possible do all), so I think that you said is a wrong attitude, we need run it on MorphOS and not need a crap videogame system from sony... I think that someone will can foind a realiable solution for run Wipeout2097 on our main platform. Another point is that I think PSX Wipeout208 will looks worse than on our OS.

    1. Use WipeoutLoader.
    2. Try to use a lower screen resolution for Wipeout.

    @Henes:

I tried 640x480; the game then runs far too fast and crashed (with the WO loader - made only one or two tests though)
Then I switched back to 800x600 and limited the speed to 25 fps with various results (still with the WO Loader - I made some tries without it but it crashes very quickly whatever the settings): freezes occurs more rarely and I experienced some crashes - sometimes in the middle of the second race, sometimes after more than one hour of play.

I noticed two other bugs though:
    > the shield is not displayed, though I have the impression the ship is protected and you can hear the humming
    > the audio has some problems too: speech is sometimes echoed and the noise of the speech sometimes disappear

Anyway I can now seriously attempt to complete the game :-) !

Try to lower the resolution again and limit the speed to 30fps (the game is badly programmed and runs too fast otherwise).
Of course, always use the loader or wipeout will make illegal memory access and crash.

I set the resolution to 640x480 and limited the speed to 30 fps. It seems overall better though I still experience spurious freezes. It didn't crash but I played only four-five races - at least I could save my bronze medal result for the fifth race :-D
There seemed to be less problems with sfx audio (no echo effect). The shield is still not displayed

    Updated on 28/10/04:

Yesterday evening the game crashed very quickly though I used WOLoader and the following settings: 640x480 - 30 fps (which worked properly the day before). Also I have the impression that game freezes are dependent upon rapid speed variation.
Maybe something is missing to my system?
