    It's really cool! :)

I've got only one problem: it doesn't recognize symultaneous keypresses, while on linux everything works fine... any help?

That's weird, i never noticed that here. What key combination does not work for example ?

Here i can play some sf2 games with keyboard and do all special moves, so that means something. ;)

Fab, what about 7-zip support? There are some unofficial MAME versions supporting it, and there are a good SDK at http://www.7-zip.org

So, made some tests on both OSes and here's the result:

    xmame 0.86 -on debian-
    all works fine

mame 0.88 (and 0.84 as well) -on mos-
    - working (symultaneous keypress ok): last blade 2; marvel vs capcom (partially, only if you press strong punch +strong kick to switch characters)
    - not working: samurai shodown IV; garou mark of the wolves; vampire savior

guess you figured out I'm a beat 'em up fan... :-D

Does it happen even if you map arcade buttons to different keys?

Is the latest version of MAME the best for a MorphOS user with a G3 Pegasos, or is there an earlier version that might work more responsively?

I would say, the older it is, the faster it is, regarding mame core. However regarding mos specific sources this is the contrary. :)

Between 0.37 and 0.88, i think the speed has halved, while morphos code has been improved. This is the price of a better emulation and readability i guess.

Anyway, with a G3, if you want to get the maximum speed, i suggest you use an older version.

Maybe i'll add my latest changes to older versions, if i find them. :)

I usually keep all versions installed, some games work better with this version other games with that version. :-)

Also sometimes older roms become incompatibel with newer mame versions. So you need to get/create a new romset for the new mame version from same game.

    timofonic: äh?

    Was that a serious question?

When you modify mame to support newer ROM sets.. what will be the result?

    Yes, a new MAME version.

And as you can see this happens already all the time. :-)

What is required is Pegasos with G4 1.3GHz or better and altivec support in MAME. I want to play Souldblade with full fps! ;-)

    regards,

Yes, and appearently there's no logical reason.
For example, in Marvel vs Capcom, combinations like MPunch+MKick (to call the 3rd char) or SPunch+SKick (to switch chars in your team) work with no problems whatever the key config; instead none of the supers that involve pressing 2 punches/kicks at once work.
Moreover, in the testing screen double presses are recognized at once... :-? :-? :-?

I have the same problem: mame doesn't recognizes 3 key pressed simultaneously.

Ok, i'll try to fix that for the next release. I think i have an idea of the problem. However could you give me a game name and a good combo combination requiring several keys, so that i test properly (for example, how to make the cooperative special move with ken&ryu in mshvc ? :)).

Samurai Shodown IV (samsho4.zip): all the supers are the same, BACK;FORWARD;DOWN;A+B (i.e the first 2 buttons... ;-))
or, easier, just press a+b to make any character dodge

or in garou (as you have it among the screenshots of your site) c+d in T.O.P. mode (i.e. when the character is flashing) to make a kinda special stuff

or you could try... ok, I'l stop it here :-D
