Thanks for the links! The MVP archive is great but when you have only a 56 K connection you appreciate the possibility to download individual files rather than download a 50 Mbytes+ archive...
Anyway it would be perfect if it worked but I have experienced some problems with the archive submitted by bigfoot (didn't try the one in the MVP package - yes I managed to download it in the end).
The problem I previously experienced with WO2097 on my PegII was that the game worked well and fast (maybe too fast?) to crash, usually in the middle of the second race.
Then I installed the WipeOutLoader following the readme instructions: copying 'WipeOutLoader' file into WO2097 directory, making a copy of the WO2097 icon, renaming it to WOLoader.info and then changing the status from 'project' to 'tools'.
The outcome is that the game loads; the first race runs good. Then during the second race enters some short game freeze. This problem then occurs more and more until it becomes very painful to continue to play - from the readme I understand I now experience the bug the patch was supposed to fix!
Any advice?
