    Hi guys,

    Here is another cool emulator that I have successfully run on Debian Sarge/PPC on my PEGII.

    Visual Boy Advance

    It uses sdl... do you think it can run on MorphOS with a little modification?

    The best part is, I tried compiling at at home for my Thunderbird cpu (Debian Sid/x86) but it didn't work! I always get segfaults.

    And if you like this sort of thing... I also have VICE (Commodore Emulator), UAE and FCEU (NES) running great on the Peg... Dig up your old disks and check them out too for more gaming fun.

    There allready exists a port of FCEU on Peg, done by David Holm, but Afair it still has some Problems with sound and palette. And it lacks a gui :-( Hopefully he will add a nice Mui Gui for it, btw I have to offer a nice Icon ;-)

    For sdl, well Even if itix` Powersdl becomes better, I really hope that if someone think about a port, will do a native one.
    Anyway, we (better I :-D ) need more Emulators. my most wanted currently is a better UAE, Sound is still bad.

    Yep Ultra :-D I tryed FinalFantasy and DBZ "Gothens" under VisualBoy and it's also fast (actually without sound due the dramamtic overhead of onboard sound driver)

    Tokai: It is SDL, it must be SDL :-D :-D
    Seriously, good job, I hope you can fix those issues. btw, the same author did also a very good gameboy emulator *hint hint* And it would be sooo cool to play my alltime Favourites e.g. Gargoyles Quest.

    @tokai:
    How exactly did you compile this? What do I need to compile it?

    @ultraspec:
    I also have much less problems on my Debian PPC than I had with Linux on x86... Debian PPC runs like a charm, even my Pentax Optio S digicam was detected w/o any problems, altough it has some limitations and is not 100% Mass Storage Standard.

    Tokai, i also compiled it a few weeks ago, to test SDL, and i also noticed it was really slow. Considering the amount of pixels to refresh, SDL is not the only reason for this low speed. I fear that vba is quite cpu hungry. :\

    when you want to make a proper port (noixemul):

    - powersdl sdk
    - modified config-sdl script (use the one from normal sdl package and fix it for your needs)
    - libpng.a + includes
    - libz.a + includes
    - knowlege of c, makefiles and config scripts to fix problems
    - and patience with yourself :)

    that's all i think. but if you had read the readme/install instructions of the package then you would know that too.

    regards,
    tokai

    I don't have installed the SDK yet, but if it comes with good docu, then I would be happy with it :)

    The SDK is a snap to install, but once it is done ou need to move a few files to the correct location. Talk to CISC on the IRC chan. He will help you out. You also need his port to fix the C++ parts.

    Paochi: Are you using alsa sound drivers (or kernel 2.6)? They do not use a lot of cpu like the oss/free ones do.
