    Hi!

Might be interesting to some despite no native port:

Settlers 2 has been ported to AmigaOS (by me). A AmigaOS 3.x + WarpOS Version is also included which also runs on MorphOS.

The version of the game ported is NOT Return to the Roots, but the original - Settlers 2 Gold Edition. The game will be released by Look Behind You for AmigaOS 68k/WarpOS/AmigaOS4.

The legendary game for the legendary operating system. I am not a gamer, but I will consider buying it since the WOS version works on MorphOS/PPC.

Thank you and respect for creating this version! :)

I just pre-ordered the collectors edition. Thank you very much for this gem, you made my day (year!).

My humble Amiga will not be able to run it, so I'm hoping that MorphOS is. But even if it can't, I am still extremely happy to add this to my collection.

@retrolinuz Don't worry, it runs fine on MorphOS. Just select the WarpUP Version on installation. If default MorphOS installer makes troublle, use geit installer or InstallerLG or InstallerNG.

Interesting. Maybe it was an older version which caused the issues ? It was always some issue with copyfiles with the "all" attribute this always failed (for example with Gorky 17).

I later let people with MorphOS test installers of more recent stuff (Settlers 2 Beta, RetroArch). I have to admit we did not try the default installer anymore then (and the testers who tried this where not really MorphOS people - they were AmigaOS 4 people who also had a MorphOS system, MacMini), we only tried Geit installer (Aminet version) and various other installers then, and none of them caused any problems.

Anyways the game itselves absolutely runs great on MorphOS (using the WarpOS version of the game), it was actually tested on several MacMini machines.

Yes, the MorhOS default installer is the one I made.

But even more shocking (especially for me) is that the 68K Installer Settler2 will come with, is also mine! :D

I should have demanded on a review copy! :D

How is the two/multi player support in this version? I don't have any interest/time to single player gaming, but we do play Settlers 1 as two player split-screen game regularly with my wife on classic Amiga. Is there a split-screen or network option in this Setters 2 port? Does it work (with two mice?) in MorphOS?

The pc version worked with two mice and split screen. We played it a ton back than.

I could not find any information on how the new amiga version handles this. Probably they silently killed the two player mode.

I think it was said that the port is based on the Mac version of the game, and now a user at EAB told:
"There was no multiplayer in MAC version so I expect no for Amiga version too."

I haven't seen MagicSN confirming this, but it seems very likely that there isn't two-player option, which is a shame, because the original Settlers was famous, and quite unique, with its two-mice multiplayer feature.

I remember MagicSN saying (IIRC on a1k.org forum, but I can't find it there) that he might reimplement the two-player option in a later update.
