Yesterday Sigil was released. It's a new megawad from Romero intended to be used with original Doom as the 5th episode, sporting a total of nine levels. The megawad is free for anyone to play :)

Based on my understanding, sigil wad(s) should be placed alongside doom.wad (registered) and when launching new game one would get the the 5th episode on the options to be available. I checked but that wasn't the case either with Chocolate or Crispy Doom ports that we have.

With Odamex (o.6.3 and 0.7.0) I did managed to trace it but it crashed right away upon loading throwing the following error:

    LANGUAGE had 28484 strings.
This version of ZDoom expects it to have 575.
    SDL_GetError =

Command used for Odamex was "odamex -iwad doom.wad -file sigil.wad", I also checked with "odamex -iwad doom.wad -file sigil.wad sigil_compat.wad" but result was the same.

On OS4 I know that it can be loaded using the prBoom port, if that helps.

Do we have to "merge" the wad and treat it as a total convertion on chocolate and/or crispy doom?

SIGIL_COMPAT.WAD needs to be used. Also, it will not work with Doom2 wad, only Doom and Ultimate Doom.
crispy-doom -file SIGIL_COMPAT.wad. SI6IL will be there as an episode 3.

Thank you, working perfectly (along side with Doom Ultimate wad)! Made a script, added a sigil icon and we have our own version that runs a brand new megawad with a single double click :P

EDIT: nevermind got fullscreen working as well :)

Another question, which also applies to crispy doom: when in fullscreen, is it possible to cap the mouse pointer so sometimes while playing you don't move game/application's window from the top, instead of shooting an enemy? It can be quite frustrating.. I assume that this has to do with SDL implementation in general on MorphOS?

Sounds weird. There shouldn't be a mouse pointer in fullscreen, unless you start in windowed mode and alt enter to make it fullscreen, but even then without grabmouse option enabled (with grabmouse you can play even in windowed mode) I couldn't replicate your issue.

I think I got what are you describing, except it's still window mode and mouse works as expected with grabmouse enabled. Open SDL preferences and make sure SDL is set to use public screen instead of SDL screen.

Sigil seems very compatible. At least, it's worked on every Doom exe I've tried it with.

Unfortunately it's not the greatest of wads. It's not bad, level design is ok, it's very challenging, but the fun isn't really there.

Yes, that worked! It was set on Ambient. Nevertheless I don't quite understand the difference, isn't Ambient the Public screen of MorphOS?

Public screen is the actually used, active screen. For example you can have a muicon on a different screen, start a program from there and depending on SDL display setting have a window opened there or on an Ambient screen.

Crispy Doom (and any other game) should just start and run fine in fullscreen mode, as long as the requested screenmode is present.

Alright understood but shouldn't when you have only one active (public) screen which is by default "Ambient" these two options on SDL prefs be treated as one (Public - Ambient)? Just imho ofc.
