Hallo to all here at MorphZone!
Having pre-ordered my Peg2 via pegasosItalia(thanx micky060!!) I'd like to have some clarifications:
    1. Which is the best 2d Graphics card for the Peg2? I mean not the fastest Radeon card in the Solar System but the best for the Peg2! And must I buy it AGP or PCI?
    2. In what consist the 3D support for Voodoo cards? If I buy a Radeon what can't I do?
    3. With my analog telephone line what modem must I buy? Parallel, USB or PCI?
    4. In the shops there are some nice MicroAtx cases but they have the USB and firewire connectors in the front panel. Are there problems with Peg mb or it's a standard feature?
    5. And For the italian friends... Posso col Peg fare un'abbonamento/pacco ADSL tipo Alice & co., o è meglio che lasci perdere?
Thanx in advance and hoping to write my next post with my brand new Peg2 aloha to all the friends here @ Mzone.

    @maurensen:

    1. IMHO the Radeon9000 AGP (no fan, full overlay support)

    2. You cannot play old Warp3D games which only work with H/W acceleration. But since Warp3D is not the future this is not a big loose IMHO.

    3. I had a good old serial 56k modem working on the Peg1. Just made sure you dissable the serial debug out of morphos. Works nice then.

    4. The Peg2 Motherboard has also connectors on the back, but u can connect the frontconnecters to the motherboard too. But most cases have a small problem here the cables are too short, but should work nicely with some longer extension cords.

    5. eh.. :)

    Welcome to MZ!

    3. Serial modems work, but also some USB analogue modems work too.

Follow this link to check out some of the compatable USB stuff. I do not know how up to date the list is, but it's definately a good start for anyone thinking of some USB devices!!

Hi maurensen, wellcome to M-Zone! :-)
Let's go to answer to your questions:

    1. Every Radeon from 7000 to 9200 is supported. Better to not choose the 8500-9100 because has still not support for overlay. So if you eliminate these models the powerfull one remains the 9000PRO, but it has fan, so if you don't like it you should watch elsewhere. The 9000 is not in the shops anymore. I'm trying to find out still the old and good 7000 (like the one I'm useing in this moment) because they are cheap and without fan. Moreover you will not see speed differences between a 7000 and a 9000Pro still when 3D drivers will come out.

    2. Warp 3D support

    3. The best choice for a analog modem is always the serial one. I tell you a secret: paralle modems don' t exist! ;-)

    4. No, they can be used, but the Peg has 2 REAR USB connectors + 1 FRONT USB connector. So you can use only one in the front (or 'maybe' you can take loose one of the rear and get 2 front ones..).

    See you soon maurensen ;-)

Take care if you take an extension cable. It *must* be drilled and have a low resistance and should be as short as possible. Otherwise the data might get corrupted.
