    Hi

    Did a test with hdparm, which gave about;

    buffer disks reads; 53.3 MB/sec

    buffer cache reads; 284.4 MB/sec

This on a Peg II G4. At least twice as fast as on the Peg 1, if I not remember wrong.

I did some 3D Benchmarks with Games between Pegasos I and eMac. No suprise, the Mac beats the Pegasos.

    3D Benchmarks
Mac mini, PowerPC G4 1.5 GHz, ATI Radeon 9200 64 MB, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB HDD, MorphOS 3.18
PowerBook, PowerPC G4 1.67 GHz, ATI Radeon 9700 128 MB, 2 GB RAM, 250 GB mSATA HDD, MorphOS 3.18

    Hi DJBase

Timerefresh in QuakeII on a Pegasos II G4, Connect 3D Radeon 9200 128MB, and in softwarerender of course. All on the same place, dont know which level.

    1024x768: 30 fps
    800x600: 40 fps
    640x480: 52 fps

    I also just did a test with a Nec DVD±RW ND-2500
and with the Pegasos II G4.

Works great playing DVD with Mplayer in MorphOS, writing cd's with Burnit, reading cd's in open firmware and in MorphOS.

Did also work playing DVD with AMP2 in MorphOS, but then not in widescreenformat.

Have not tried writing DVD's. ;-)

So this one is a good choice with the Pegasos.

    That is all good guys...THANKS!

We are looking for a way to show the virtues of AltiVec. We undertsand that alot of this is still coming, but there may be a few things from the Mac environment (like RC5) that we can port/show.

AmiGOD1 is the only one that saves results into the database. AmiGOD2 is still in BETA stage. It was developed in several languages: BlitzBasic2 (improved AmiGOD1), StormC, PowerD/GUI and PowerD/MUI (AmiGOD2). PowerD doesn't support MorphOS and has many bugs (sorry Mark), so now I am developing "AmiGOD2 Reloaded" from scratch (again) in GCC language (MOS SDK). Saving results was implemented less than in one minute of coding :-o :-) and AmiGOD2 Reloaded is finally MorphOS native! It's not released yet - like MorphOS 1.5 :-D

Try BLAST, it's a scientific benchmark. If someone ports the Apple version (they've optimised it for Altivec) you can put a G4 Peg against any P4 and the Peg will completely destroy it.

    Try this:
    ftp://ftp.apple.com/developer/Tool_Chest/AGBLAST/AGBLAST.tar.gz

    Build script is here:
    ncbi/make/makedis.csh

    Details are here:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/math_science/applegenentechblast.html

    Note:
    Look for the tool "BLASTn".
"Word length" makes a big difference, try 30+
