Hi

I just acquired a Peg 2 with MorphOS 2.5 and tried installing this pack I get as far as the install script saying it is downloading files click continue when files are downloaded but it appears to not be doing anything. I can click continue which advances to the end of all the installation but nothing has been installed. There is no indication or evidence of any installing going on.

How long does it take to download and how do you know when it is finished, am I missing something or am I too impatient I have left my system running for nearly half an hour with no evidence of change on the first downloading screen without pressing continue?

Installer script use wget tool to download archive and lha to extract it.

A window appears when download begin and diseppears whan it finished.
You must click after to continue button to launch extraction.
A window appears when exraction begin and diseppears whan it finished.

Edit: I have a brand new clean install of MorphOS2.5 on an eMac G4 and the Pack Ultimate Installer is not working. Is there some file, or files that need to be installed first to make it work? I did not see any text stating that something else needed to be done prior to running the Installer file.

I had the same problem at first.
Try running the script from within MorphOS folder and not ram. (If you havent already)
Try also copying wget into C.

I tried this morning and script start with a fres installion of MorphOS 2.5, download and extract good.

I will do some changes in the futur script:

- ask destination for download files,
- ask all questions at the begining (for install pack ultimate, games and emulators),
- correct some bugs.

Do not hesitate to give me other ideas

Cool. :) As you can see the scope or your project keeps growing and there is a lot to keep you busy :)

Asking for a destination disk is important. Also, asking for other installs is fantastic. IMHO if you could get a really good installer that asks to install individual programs and /or libraries and such, that would be amazing!

@ Magnetic,

i will can do an installer which purpose to install entire pack ultimate or by type of software :

- Audio,
- CD-DVD
- Developpment,
- Office,
- Paint,
- Picture,
- etc...

Choose each software will be more difficult, sorry.

Man I don't know what I am doing wrong but I can't get this thing to install. I have put wget into my C: directory I have unpacked it to a location on my hard drive and executed the installer from there. it gets to 32% where it says

downloading files...

Please wait...
Click continue when download finished.

but nothing appears to be happening?

wget tool is provided in the archive of the installer, so there is no need to be copied elsewhere.

After you choose pack icon, installer open a window and wget must download ultimate.lha archive.

Perhaps, you have an internet connection problem.

Have you try to launch OWB ? Is it OK ?

Internet is working beautifully posting this message within OWB whilst running POLYGOT..... I have high speed broadband connection.

Perhaps some DNS temporal problems? Having in mind the description seems like wget has got stuck... does progess raise while waiting for downloads to complete?

it gives me no indication of anything happening

I am having the exact same problem as well. My Internet connection is working fine (high speed broadband connection), but after the window opens and states that downloading has begun it never gets past the 32% completed stage, no matter how long I wait.

I testing and it's ok for me (download, extraction)

I have renamed "Pack" drawer to "pack" on the server.

Maybe it's ok now

Thanks for the Ultimate pack...and that it now works on MorphOS 2.5. :)

New installer for v1.6.1:

- all choices at the beginning,
- you can choose destination for download files,
- download of all files selected,
- extraction of all files selected.

Hi! Just downloaded new version and installed it. Works nicely so far. This is a really fanastic upgrade for new users or to spruce up an old morphos config.. :) Good job!




Note:

1. When ambient loads up there is an error about the backdrop, but then it loads one up anyway (i have to hit ok)

2. During the install U have to manual continue continue continue too many times...

3. The task bar thingy is really cool but how do i configure it and change its position? It needs to be at the bottom of my screen its like in the bottom middle?? (just figured this one out!) *edit

3. About PolyNet position: right click on bar, chosse bar prefs, click on arrow to place bar at the middle of "your" screen and click on fix button. Click 'save' to save your prefs.

I try to contact Polymere, the PolyNet developper for he add a function "placed at the edge and center" for all screen resolutions but without succes.

Hi Papi,

I had some better luck with this latest version of the installer. It downloaded all the files before it crashed with an error message that the installation had failed. Is there a way I can run the installer again to finish the installation without having to download all the files again, since they are on my hard drive now?

I am serving the Internet to my eMac running MorphOS2.5 demo from my PowerMac G4 running MacOSX which is connected using it's Airport card. The reason for this is because I am sitting in the driveway having a Garage/Yard Sale today.

Sure would like to have your Pack Ultimate on this eMac before I take it to the AmiWest 2010 Show to become the grand prize in the Amiga Game Competition.

If you restart the installer and if you choose the same destination for files to download, the installer will not download again the files.

Wget tool can continue the download if it is not finished. If file is complete, he don't download again.

I tried the installer again 3 times and it does not try to download the files again, but after the 7th download check I get an error that says the download is not complete and that the installation must be restarted, maybe a connection error.

OWB can connect and work, so I don't know why the installer script cannot connect. Also, the installer script connected to the Internet and downloaded all the other files without any trouble, so I don't know what it going wrong now.

Edit: It seems that if any choice other than the defaults are chosen for the download locations, or the installation destination, the installer script does not work. I just changed the location for the download to RAM: after copying the downloaded files there and it moved on to the extraction phase of the installation. After all extraction was completed I still got an error that the installer had encountered an error and would have to abort.

I looked in several folders and it seems that many, if not all the programs are now in place, but I do not know if they have been setup correctly, since the installer did not finish properly. I will reboot and try some of them out to see if they work.
