Many seem to be interested in Pegasos but are a bit uncertain, becouse of forthcoming Pegasos 3...
Wonder if there will be Pegasos 2 => Pegasos 3 upgrade deal as there's now for Pegasos 1 => Pegasos 2?
Perhaps the upgrade options we've seen might have been functioning as way to compensate for not quite meeting announced specifications and expectations, much related to the Articia problems?
The Pegasos is sold as a dual PPC motherboard (which of course should be stable), with G3 or G4. At first it was not stable, which is very cruical, so there was a (free) april upgrade for non non-april Pegasos boards (however, the april added unnecessary costs and was perhaps not an optimal solution in the long run). Then there was an upgrade and from Peg1 to Peg2 for G4 reasons (a Peg1 G4 version was released, but only certain random combinations of motherboards and G4 CPU's seemed to work together). The Peg2 might also be handling processor cards with dual CPU's a bit better thanks to DDR, á la Apple?
Anyway, IMHO you should not count on a Peg2->Peg3 upgrade. Also, the Peg2 is very tangible and real. The Peg3 is more of a vague announcement of a future ambition. My advice would be to get a Peg2 while you can (AFAIK it's not yet too late to order one) instead of dreaming about future things that may or may not come to pass.
