Heres one which someone else might find useful. I want to have device/assignwindow at hand, but I am not a big fan of toolbar. Put this script to tools and create a shortcut for it on Ambient desktop.

Edit the script to suit your needs

Big thanks to Fab for the hint

    another one for pictures

    add to JPEG_picture:

    Action
    Name Set as Background
    Event Menu
Command AMIGADOS rx MorphOS:MorphOS/Ambient/filetypes/background.rexx file %sp
    End

and background.rexx looks like this :

    /* load ambient background*/

    options results
    parse arg mode' 'file

    address 'AMBIENT'
    'loadbackground 'file' MODE=CENTERED'

You don't really need an external script for this one :

    Command INTERNAL LoadBackground %sp MODE=CENTERED TYPE=desktop

    should be enough

    Fab, Catohagen:

Funny, because I was allready about to prepare my all-in-one filetype definition for pictures, Especially for those who want to load pics into their favourite Manipulating Tool ;)
Will post it later on anyway (until I found out how to load pics in TV Paint and why FXPaint wont work while others do ;) )

    Hi,

    I'm having a little trouble:
When I doubleclick on a picture file, there's Multiview showing me the picture. Unfortunatly, I can choose another picture until I close the first.

Is it possible to show 2 files or more from the same dir at the same time?

    thanks.

No, as you might have imagined, I never did the ARexx script for Ambient. I just wrote the one I cut'n'pasted here before, and Hooligan was referring to that. ;-)
My script just extracts LHAs with drag'n'drop, lets you select the destination with double click, and the context menu with the right mouse button lets you extract the archive contents to ram: and list the contents. Much simpler and less powerful than the ARexx script (I had a similar one on DOpus 4, so I'd love to be able to do the same thing in Ambient, BTW).

    Kind regards,
    Andrea

    Guruman:
Ah, so this was just a little confusion ;) I refered to another filetype definiton he posted on another thread, where an archive was supposed to be opend as a virtual drawer, doubleklick on a lha archive and simply get it opened :) However, according to Fab it currently isn`t possible.

BTW, does anyone know whether it is possible to add "spacer" types into the menus?

Both crashes went away when I installed MUI4. :-)

    Two questions, though --

Is there a way to "move" files from one folder to another? (files here are "copied" rather than "moved", unlike the previous version of Ambient). Is there a key I need to hold down or something?

Is there are way to turn off the MUI "Alpha" notification at boot time?

    Thanks! :-)

with latest build, you can move instead of copying if you press alt while dragging a file. You can also use clipboard cut function available in context menu.

About the requester : setenv save I_KNOW_MUI_IS_BETA 1

    Bladerunner :
No, there is no space object configurable in menu. Will be considered.

    klesterjr,

    # MUI

    setenv save i_know_mui_is_beta 1

    removes the notification on startup

    #Move files

Choose Cut (and then paste/paste into) instead of copy for moving files. Multiselect is also ok.

    Edit,

    Heh, Fab was faster :-)

Would be cool if this where added ;) Currently I have, depending on the image type, up to 7 definitions in the menu, but it would look somewhat better if the can be seperated by a spacer element.

BTW regarding the menus, Currently it is only possible to have selfdefined menus if just one file is selected. Would it also be possible to add something to Ambient that recognizes whether a group of selected files is of the same type and then allow to use the defined fileactions? for example select 3 jpgs and led them be opend with a gfx app. Or select some mp3s and led them be played with anr? Same would be true for a rename action btw.
Another thing is, I would like to see a "copy to" "move to" feature within the context menus. I know, they are allready available with the tools menu, however have that accesable with the contextmenu would be nice :)

Very good idea and a useful too.. too damn shame it's apparently impossible to save Ambient settings from scripts at the moment.. so the background wil be the same old after a reboot :/

yeah, its a bless shame :-D

we might be lucky that some developers read this
and put it on teh todo list.

also arexx controlled panels would be nice, meaning
you build them up with arexx for some temporary
stuff or similar and when script quits, they are
removed.....or maybe there are stuff thar does this already

Indeed, I am hoping since a while, that there will be one day an Arexx Panel Element, which led you controll the behaviour as well as the current action via arexx.
On my old Amiga, I did exactly that with amistart. For example, when Miami went online, it sent some arexx magic to amistart, which changed the Icon then ;) (IIRC it also changed the action, if it was in offline state it went online when pressed and vice versa.)

Maybe this will happen one day ;) But let them finish now first the Mimetype thing ;) I guess there is still enough work to do ;) Oh and of course it would be more than cool, if one day the automatic Icon Sort mechanism could be turned off... :D

Why use arexx script for AminetRadio, just use this,

Command AMIGADOS RUN >NIL: SYS:Audio/AmiNetRadio/AmiNetRadio NOSTARTWINDOW URL %sp

    Works fine for me

Not the best place to put this, but as close as I could find . . .

I painted a new set of menu images for the current Ambient beta. They look the same as everything I paint, so if you don't like my other stuff, you won't like these either. ;-)

I'll leave them up for a couple of days for anyone interested.
