It's certainly nothing I've done :) That said, WebKit evolves quite dynamically, so it's possible they've optimized some stuff between the two snapshots.

It seems faster each new version is released. True or false but fantastic anyway!

Version 4.0 feels faster on my G5 regarding page loading times.

@jacadcaps: Would that be a side effect of the Webkit 2.34 -> 2.36 upgrade or did you add some additional code of your own? Or is it just my imagination? ;-)

The website claims Wayfarer 3.9 requires MOS 3.16. In fact it needs 3.17.

So after Wayfarer 3.2 hanged while downloading the ISO for 3.17 (and downgrading to Wayfarer 3.2 not working), which means I cannot longer start Wayfarer, I'm now downloading the 3.17 ISO via OWB.

First post from Wayfarer 4.0... The MorphOS betatesters just got access to a first build of a Wayfarer rebased onto the latest WebKitGTK 2.36.3. It will take between days to weeks before it's ready for a public release, though.

FAQ updates: I've added instructions on fixing Youtube/iOS seeking and on using a VPN with Wayfarer (with additional hardware required). Take a look at

I'd like to thank amyren for sponsoring NordVPN so that I could take a look at several geo-locked services and get a chance to implement support for ClearKey.

I would also like to thank everyone who donated to the project recently. Thanks a lot! You continue to keep me motivated.

The new Wayfarer release comes with following changes

    - Implemented ClearKey DRM support for HLS media streams
    - Implemented HLS stream quality switching accessible from the media popup
    - Added configurable touch events emulation (think Youtube-Mobile seeking slider)
    - Refactored the HLS player to allow MPEG-TS playback
    - Live HLS streams now start playing closer to the current time
    - Improved stream end position reporting to get some streaming services correctly skip to next stream after playing ads
    - Updated libcurl

While not very popular these days, ClearKey encryption is still being used by some live streaming services. Wayfarer will now play those streams (https://tv.nrk.no for example).

The touch events emulation makes it possible to seek on mobile Youtube again.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work now either....

I've email the result of my analysis to you but since others may stumble on this as well:

Youtube now requires touch events when using the iOS / Android user agents. Video will either not start or you will not be able to seek since YT completely disregards mouse inputs.

I'm working on mitigating this (by emulating touch events) in the next release, but there will be caveats to this.

Wish I could take a look but that's (obviously) region-locked, so I cannot access the stream from Canada.

Well done, thank you for the update.
It has been many years now since watching tv streams from tv.nrk.no have been possible at all on MorphOS.
It still have problems with live broadcasts, but playing from the tv-guide archevies works.
And that works very well on the mac mini 1.5Ghz, even in full screen there was no lagging and the audio/video was in sync, as well as the subtitles.
