Ive been attempting to get my printer, an HP Photosmart Premium to work well with MorphOS. While I can get some basic printing done now, thats about all it will do.

How hard would it be to port over the CUPS stuff from linux or Apple? As far as I know its all open source and has a lot more of a modern selection of abilities than the Turbo Print based solution we have now.

There's something in the works right now which involves CUPS and is supposed to replace TurboPrint. See:

Terminills on Amiga.org is currently porting Gutenprint to 68k. I assume it will also work on MorphOS once he's finished.

Yes, it already produces printable output on MorphOS, I've tested it...

After finishing some thing for MorphOS 3.4 i've currently returned to work on printer bounty. First beta should be available within 2 weeks. Its logic is based on CUPS heavily but more or less it is written from scratch with full Morphos system support. First beta will be useful only for postscript printers owners but next beta should have additional drivers support (CUPS compatible).

ps. i'll do my best not to use ghostscript and use morphos built in technologies :)

And that is even better news! :)

Will it be a public beta?

CUPS would be a great solution if it can use the drivers from linux. Even better if the OS X drivers will work.

CUPS drivers are native binaries compiled for Linux, OSX etc...
So, as I don't think he intends to write a Linux and an OSX emulators... ;-), I rather believe he meant compatible with the driver source (for easier adaptation to MorphOS).

and now it's being converted in to a standard driver. :)

Still a bit to go for full usage on AOS, Morphos and AOS... however once Morphos gets cups compatible driver support it could easily be converted to use the newer features. :)

That really sucks badly. His effort will become a proprietary OS4 commercial product.

More likely it will follow OS4 into the abyss as nobody will ever be permitted to work on it.

Good point. How long have A-Eonkit been sitting on pallets of Nemo boards and pallets of Tabor boards? I guess almost a year for the Tabor and almost 3 years for the Nemo, with no release date in site.

The last time someone (probably A_W) linked to A-Eonkit filings it showed something like £200,000 in debt. How in the hell are they servicing this debt? How long can this charade continue?

Or not... My work is still mine. However I have more important things to worry about right now. :)

    Nice!

Will a native MorphOS port of Final Writer be compiled, once the AROS version is finished?

Is this a commercial software project, and if yes, how much do you plan to ask for a purchase price?

Yes it is a commercial product. However I'm not quite ready to announce the price yet.

X1000/Nemo had finally been sold out in 2015, 3½ years after commercial launch.

    > I guess almost a year for the Tabor and almost 3 years for the Nemo

It's about one year for the 500 X5000/Cyrus(Plus) boards and I guess slightly less for the 1000 A1222/Tabor boards. X1000/Nemo was launched 4½ years ago and sold out about one year ago.

A-Eon Technology Ltd. and Leaman Computing Ltd. ("AmigaKit") are separate companies. Financials are as follows:
