Archive : : Cubic IDE 'Sponsor a Developer' promotion

Around this time of year, every year, there is a a special GoldED x-mas promotion. It's usually about selling the latest and greatest version at a ridiculously low price to gifted developers. But this year, it will be a bit different:

Sponsor a development package for a developer!

That's right: purchase a state-of-the-art Cubic IDE development package not for yourself but for somebody else. At a ridiculously low price, of course. Make another Amiga/MorphOS developer happy and give him a brand new development package as recognition for good work done. If you are not familiar with creating software and can't program for toffee, sending a development kit to a gifted programmer might be the next best thing to writing software.

Why send Cubic IDE?

Our research team, in extremely scientific experiments, has found out that one reasons why so little new software is written is inappropriate tools: developers are given programs like editpad and spend hours looking for the make button. When told that it's not there, they are confused and demotivated. With Cubic IDE, they will get a powerful tool for development and (eventually) make the software YOU want, in a fraction the time. Ok, I made the last part up. If you REALLY want know why to send Cubic IDE, you can read up on its features here. In a nutshell, it is what Amiga developers want.

What do I get?

For the reduced price of only 49,90 EUR (+p&p), you can sponsor one development package for an Amiga developer. He or she will get the latest and greatest retail version delivered via priority mail. The disk will carry a "Sponsored by <your name>" line. If you want to include a written note, such as "Keep on the good work, dude", supply it in any standard file format and a print-out will be included with the gift.
On top of that and as recognition for a selfless deed, I'll throw in a free Cubic IDE CD for you, too. That's how nice I am. Your CD will come without retail packaging and will not be mailed priority, to minimize costs and to make the deal possible.

Any programmer whose software you like, of course. If you can't think of anybody, ask the users in Amiga forums. It would be very helpful if you can identify the beneficiary by a postal address.

So how do I do it?

I was too fast/slow in donating such a package.
So there is one Cubic available but no developer atm.

Is there a MorphOS-Developer in need of Cubic ?

    Actually Robin,

I was thinking that any developer that takes up a legitimate bounty could be eligable for Cubic once donations justify a copy. I will check with Deitmar later to see if we could work out something to get the most bang for the donated dollar, and will also have to check with the bounty team for their thoughts.

I just feel that we would be doing a service to the community if we could work something out to help the programmers have an easier time if needed. I'm sure that we would have to establish rules to govern such a thing, but if successful we could all end up supporting one another in a way that is unprecidented in the current "community."

An extra bounty to collect money for dev-tools
for developers who cant afford them sounds cool :-)

Hope I don't get in trouble for this... But...

After talking with a specific developer...

The idea has come accross my desk to make an attempt to work on some special arrangements to get discounts from not just one source but several in an attempt to help developers with both development software and hardware; while, making an honest attempt to keep those costs away from the bounty donors.

It's awful hard to disagree with that logic ;-)
