It has been a long time since the last release. Diploma exams were the biggest reason for delay (he passed. Ed.). I hope you enjoy this release. A list of new features introduced in this version can be found by following the More link.

    ok, one thing:Quote:

    - New function: Insert text. Uses TTEngine.library by Grzegorz Kraszewski.
i've already installed this and i thought I did it right :-(
i mean, the lib is in LIBS: and there's the ttengine.database and ttfcodepage in Prefs/env

but if i click on the add text thing nothing happens. it sort of sits there.

well, at first I had my truetype fonts in system:morphos/fonts/_ttf

but it seemed to expect them in system:fonts/_truetype

which never existed. so, i just now created that, copied my truetype fonts there and redid my ttengine.database

it still freezes at the text window. or "meditates". it's obviously looking or waiting for something and snoop isn't telling me what. and why would dir be hardcoded?? isn't this amiga?

I also noticed that Showgirls sometimes expects the template dir to be called
    icon_templates

which is different than what has been called in the past

    "templates"

i've tried deleting the config files in env: and prefs and resaving it all and there's still a problem.

plus, the Pick color thing doesn't seem to work.

An OS that isn't updated anymore is likely to die... sooner or later, but the result is the same.

    @Kiero: nice work !
Only thing: pageup/pagedown don't do what they are supposed to do :)
And there's no other way to go to next/previous page :)

Well, it's weird. Here i can specify .ttf file which is in any directory (and you don't have to rebuild ttengine database) and it works fine. if file doesn't exist then it simply displays error message at bottom of InsertText window. Try to update ttengine.library to version 7. maybe it will fix some problems.

About templates. My fault. In old version the dir was called templates but on my dev partition (in place from where i archive releases) it's icon_templates. But anyway, it should work with templates from any directory without any problem. And path will be remembered when you restart the app. I have fixed some things and will upload fixed version in a day or two with Templates instead of icon_templates dir.

And what you mean that color picker doesn't work? Here it work perfectly (press Pick button and then next mouse click on image "freezes" selected color). No tester reported any problems with it.

    @leo

Pageup/down didn't work when string gadget was active. I fixed it.

i've only ever had ver 7, which i installed this january. the date on the file is 13-jan-05 and the size is 165408

and I tried using viewISO1.1 to see the fonts and it works fine.

to make sure the lib didn't get somehow currupt, i'll try reinstalling it.

i've had no real trouble with using ttf on other programs (yet). IFX (which just uses the normal system method) has no problems with fonts.

i'll have to try fxpaint next and see what happens there. i believe that is supposed to use this ttengine. (?)

also, while i've tried to update my mui files as best as i can, it's possible i may have missed something. and now that we can't access morphos.net anymore, what can i do to update what i need?
    i mean, i still only have MOS1.4, not 1.42
i'm not even sure what that change entails.

i'm feeling we need a bit of organisation here after all this.....lack of communication, i'll call it. :-D

and, by the way, i really love this program. i mean, it's incredible. i would LOVE to be able to use text on it becuse that would make it that much more useful than it already is. so thanks.

and i'll worry about the Pick color thing later. :-D

    Ok, to sum it up:
You select .ttf file with requester and the app crashed? What was font size (number on the right from the font name)? Would be nice if you could email me ramdebug log after a crash. And maybe a font You chose+current settings (from the window). You are only person that have problems with it tho, so it's a bit hard to find a reason.

PS. 1.4.2 didn't update any mui stuff.

yes, the top of the text window says:
    ***Application is meditating**

it's automatically looking for a font in:
    FONTS:_truetype/Arial.ttf
    size 40

and, YES, i have arial.ttf in that dir. I just looked at it in the viewISO. just to make sure. snoop doesn't register any FAIL. even accessing the ttf is OK. so, something happens right after that. i guess.
the thing is, i don't have the opportunity to pick another font. that's what's already in the string gadget and it blows up right at that point. that's one of the reasons why i made that dir in FONTS:

(Oh, and btw, the color picker seems to be working. don't ask me how that happened. :-o I did go out for a walk and to get some vitamines so maybe my peg got jealous. ya never know with those wacky machines) :-P

ok, this is weird, but i changed my ttengine.lib to version 6.6 and now the text thing works.

I changed the lib a couple of times, rebooted just to make sure that was it. i have NO idea what is wrong with using version 7 of this lib on my system, but there you have it.

(and, my system is one of those Pre-April pegs. possible one of the first ever made)
