Yeah, very good news. Good job all around, Genesi, to develop these business relationships.

I saw the Pegasos listed on the MySQL page but not on the Freescale page yet. Hopefully they will put it up there too, so that is one more place to get the great Pegasos out there.

I guess this is a Linux box. SixK released an alpha of MySQL for MorphOS. You can link to it from this page here.

If MySQL released this server in a MorphOS version it would be more responsive and boot faster. I am sure there would be a lot of work to get something like that viable though, don't get me wrong.

Great news, but it seems, this so-called "Pegasos Server" is only an ODW with maybe a different sticker on it. This is no problem, but to offer a single hard disk in a database server is probably not a good idea, and can cause serious data loss on HDD failure. Linux has very good SW-RAID support, so i'd offer a dual-harddisk solution. Not counting this, it's great to hear about it.

Yes, some raid sollution, even SW-RAID, could be nice for a server...

    Velcro_SP, please repeat after me.

Neko, that's pretty good. Maybe you could try repeating "THERE ARE NO BLADES" if you get bored. Or maybe you'll realize you are just being annoying and not constructive at all.

In the first place I said right up front in my comment that there would be a lot of work to do before the MOS port of MySQL would be useable in a product like this, and similarly there are surely things you would have to do with MOS as well.

That said, a computer will do anything you program it to do and an OS will do anything you program it to do. So there is no reason to accept false limitations from people who want to tell you 'you can never do that with MorphOS.'

Maybe you should stick to extolling the virtues of Microsoft Windows SP2 on Moobunny like you been doing.

This is a step in the right direction. However, some of the people are correct in saying there needs to be TWO HDs for a server box.

    @Velcro

Neko is known for that kind of remark, but he is very accurate in that statement. Very few companies would use an alternative OS like MOS for this. Also, MOS does not have the programs and functionality that linux has in this marketplace

Magnetic, that's fine that you see fit to back him up and say that he is right. May I also ask which of my comments you find to be wrong?

Did you read the part where I said much more work would have to be done?

As for MOS not having Linux's functionality and programs in the server marketplace, wow, be careful not to go out so far on a limb. ;)

dont worry no matter how many times you try and succeed in justifying your pount (exapmple "this is not a port request") they will find something to gripe about...its what they do :-P

    Hi

This is very good. And perhaps the Pegasos platform can become the ideal solution when it comes to solution like this. Price - performance as what the Pegasos offer is very good.

Linux is the choice of OS, not that its not possible to do things in MorphOS, it is also.

We are using MySQL + Apache + php on some Pegasos here.

Pegasos.org is running on one Pegasos and Debian OS, and its very quick and also stable. Also one Pegasos is used for firewall/gateway.

Also GGS-Data AB is using php + Apache + MySQL, however thats not on Pegasos, as its hosted in the Telia network, and no Pegasos there yet.

Also this one is on a Pegasos as well.
    Best wishes, Gunne
