Chris, this is an
Open Desktop Workstation.
At
SNDF the ODW will be launched as a "A Standardized PowerPC Embedded Software Development System." This is where Motorola/freescale has carved out a market niche with the G4 -- the embedded system market. From there we will head to the broader market and a PowerPC Linux Desktop solution.
Dave, Matt, Thomas and Sven all arrived in Dallas Tuesday. Raquel and I and Thomas and Gerald arrive Friday. Paul gets in today. Thomas and Sven will provide training to Motorola/freescale today in Austin. Things are moving. By the end of this month, the Open Desktop Workstation will be in use in Motorola offices in the USA, UK, Finland, Taiwan and Japan and an active sales and market development program will begin.
This all coincides with this announcement yesterday:
http://www.genesi.lu/press_20040421.phpAre you beginning to see how this all fits together?
HP is one of the largest IT companies in the world and for them to agree to partner with us in the PowerPC and Linux environment is something that makes Genesi unique. This also highlights the advantage of our OpenFirmware.
Beyond the credibilty HP brings us, it also enables Genesi to obtain attractive pricing on HP products so the we can provide our customers a total solution for their system needs with solid margins.
Once we get this properly organized we will create a new class of Genesi/Pegasos Reseller who will partner with us and Motorola/freescale to provide not only system solutions, but the training and support required. This is where Pegasos Academy fits in!
Of course, we still have MorphOS in mind too (but, that is another story!)...
