Posted By: ASiegel. on 2014/2/17 8:39:43
The MorphOS development team would like to announce the immediate availability of an update for MorphOS 3.5. All users who experienced boot problems after installing MorphOS 3.5 are advised to install MorphOS 3.5.1. The developers would like to apologize for any inconveniences caused.

    That was quick :-)

Is there any reason to install 3.5.1 if the 3.4 > 3.5 update process went ok?

I'd recommend installing 3.5.1. The problem in 3.5 can manifest itself later, depending on the USB devices connected.

I have Installed 3.5.1 over 3.5 using the "Update" option on my Mac Mini 1.5 with no issues. I have also updated 3.5.1 over 3.4 on my PowerBook 1.67 without any issues (I had to backup my 1.23 version of OWB first though).

    Thanks to the OS Developers!

I noticed Scribble will not start without the MorphOS SDK installed on version 3.5. I sent a bug report already. You can temporarily fix it by adding "assign sdk: sys:applications/" to your "sys:s/user-startup" file. I didn't try 3.5.1 yet so maybe it's already fixed...

Since literally nothing changed in Scribble between 3.4 and 3.5, that is likely some user setting/change that causes the problem for you. I am pretty sure Scribble runs just fine when you boot MorphOS from CD.

That's odd as I tried it from the CD and got same problem. I first noticed it on a Pegasos II G4 machine I gave to my Dad to use. Scribble was working prior to installing the 3.5 update. Afterwards it popped up a requestor asking for sdk: assign and after failing to start nothing else on the computer was launchable until reboot. I tried booting the CD and got same message and error. I added dummy sdk: assign to user-startup and it was fixed. I sent the bug report on my G5 which probably gave you the wrong machine info. (I didn't think it was important in this case)

I just booted the CD on my G5 and got the exact same error

OK, I have identified an issue which might have caused this. A dummy assign is a temporary fix indeed.

Such a fast fix!! That's why I love MorphOS, it usually just works and when it doesn't just work, the fix is small, found and fixed a heartbeat later!

UnRAR attached in the system freezing shell on Efika (already on version MorphOS 3.0+).

The from version 3.0 on Efika problem is also with TinyGL (does not work eg. BlitzQuakeMOS).

Thanks. Yet UnRAR is attached to the efikainstall.img and there are missing library to run (you could also post there efika.audio and AHI to play music welcome and to immediately be able to start the sound).

The efikainstall.img is generally a stripped down ISO - we remove enough for it to still be able to run the IWizard and yet maintain the small size - OpenFirmware has a size limit.
