Everything feels faster on my (dual) G5 1.8GHz than with 3.4
Btw, there is still an old version of OWB in the image....

    Thank you MorphOS Team!

MorphOS on my PowerBookG4 has already updated to version 3.5. I had some strange problems with gfx drivers. I don't know why now it works well because I didn't do anything.

hmmm.. I installed the update on my Pegasos II and my Powerbook G4 and now they won't boot! I mean.. they boot but boot process freeze on both machines... Powerbook stops and shows grey screen with ambient screenbar at the top and Peg II stops booting before boot logo desappears... is anyone having the same issue?

    Cheers,

Can anyone tell me whether a couple of icon issues were fixed? Def_icons did't display their selected state and the icon states of all icons were reversed in the dock. Obviously, this didn't show up with the default single-state png icons. (I lost the will to keep checking when it wasn't fixed a couple of versions ago).

Quoting myself... narrowed it down to poseidon.prefs in sys: prefs/env-archive/sys/poseidon.prefs ...removed it from both machines and now they boot without issues... hope this info helps someone experiencing the same issue with this new MorphOS release.

I have a much bigger problem:

Everything updated on my G5 2,7 GHz without a hitch. Now when I reboot everything seems to work up till the boot screen. It works fine, but when I reach Ambient all I see is the top bar and a huge, grey background (in the right screen resolution: 1920x1200). See attached file:

    14393_bild.JPG

    What has gone wrong here?

[Edit] When I removed my USB:s the message came up telling me they where indeed removed. Maybe something broke in the later part of startup?

That's actually very similar to the issue I had on my Powerbook... try removing sys:prefs/env-archive/sys/poseidon.prefs and reboot...

(that's in SYS, not in MOSSYS:)

    Good luck,

I had the same problem with my Mac Mini 1.5Ghz. Haven't tried to update the PowerBook 1.67 yet.

Well I should have waited before I updated. My MDD machine is now on 3.5 nd I get the system to boot up but with the solid gray Ambient screen too.

Even if booting into a 3.4 CD by holding C down it still comes up like this.

Note: my wireless non-apple kbd not works with 'C'-booting but works in fully loaded OS.

Actually the part about the iconsstate being reversed in panels has been fixed (AFAIR in 3.4 allready).

To be sure to really boot into the CD you want to use LALT and then select the CD in the boot-selector.
I've noticed that just press C isn't enough sometimes.
It sounds like it boots of the CD but it seems to be running the boot.img out of the HD...

I got it working from the boot CD and deleted the new boot.img and MorphOS system folder. Im back on 3.4 for now with no problems.

We've identified and fixed a mistake that can lead to system hang related to handling of early startup and USB. This is the "grey screen lock up" issue some have been experiencing.

Barring unexpected force majeure situations we will release a quickfix shortly (likely 17th).

We're sorry for the inconvenience this issue may have caused.

Great to see you have it identified and under control! Thanks for the info, looking forward to having a working and up to date system.

Non-native screenmodes on PowerBookG4 are blinking still. It is visible especially on 3D games/demos. If I run the same games/demos in native screen mode (1440x960), screen is not blinking. I have checked predefined modes (640x480, 800x600) and modes which I created (720x480 - consistent with proportions of my PowerBookG4 screen).

Same here... non-native screenmodes blink... similar to native amiga pal screens...

BTW, how are you creating these other screenmodes?

    Enter in command line:

    mossys:prefs/preferences mossys:prefs/monitors.mprefs

    ...and do it like usual.

Hi! I tried a dirty upgrade from 3.4 (with pack Chrysalis installed) but didn't work (for the first time): Downloaded and mount 3.5 iso, renamed old boot.img, copied new one from mac32 drawer located at 3.5 iso rebooted in order launch the wizard upgrade but the system stops at MorphOS splash screen (AFTER the grey screen). Any idea what to do?

Get the 3.5.1 ISO and go through a regular update process. I recommend using a supported update method rather than copying boot.imgs manually - that way is pretty certain you will do something wrong.

    > tried it but it dooesn't work in a powerbook since there's no monitor prefs

You mean the MorphOS 3.5 installation/update doesn't install/copy the MOSSYS:Prefs/MPrefs/Monitors.mprefs file on PowerBooks anymore? MorphOS 3.4 certainly did install/copy it. In this case, just copy the file by hand and try again.

    > did it work for you in a PB?!

No PowerBook here. I was just quoting what other PowerBook users mentioned they did.
