Events : : MorphOS to be shown at AmiWest 2010 Show
Posted By: amigadave. on 2010/9/2 17:40:47
For the third year in a row I will be demonstrating the latest version of MorphOS2.x at the AmiWest 2010 Show in October. This year I will have four computers running MorphOS2.5 (or greater), including my Efika (which I am working on putting in a new and interesting case w/monitor), 1.5GHz G4 MacMini, 1.25GHz G4 eMac, and Dual 1.25GHz G4 MDD PowerMac. I have also been asked to run the Amiga Game Competition again for this year's AmiWest 2010 Show and have decided to donate the 1.25GHz G4 eMac running the demo version of MorphOS2.5 as the grand prize to the winner of the competition. So, if you like playing Amiga games and can make it to Sacramento, CA in October, come to AmiWest 2010 Show and have a chance to win yourself a 1.25GHz eMac to run MorphOS on.

I hope to see some of you at the show, please introduce yourself.

    In case MorphOS 2.6 won't have been released by then, will you get a PowerMac G4 compatible developer version from the MorphOS Team for demonstrating on the show?

    Update: I just received a message from one of the MorphOS Development Team members letting me know that the Team is donating the license key for the 1.25GHz G4 eMac that is being given away by me to the winner of the Amiga Game Competition during the AmiWest 2010 Show. So, come to AmiWest 2010 Show, play some fun Amiga games and possibly win an eMac with MorphOS2.6 & MacOSX installed on it in a dual boot setup.

    That is right, the latest message from the MorphOS Team member also stated that MorphOS2.6 will be shown at the AmiWest 2010 Show (that may mean that it will be released before that date, or it may mean that it will only be demonstrated, but I believe that it means that it will be available to everyone by that date). I will have 2, or 3 G4 PowerMacs for sale at the AmiWest 2010 Show in addition to the eMac that will be given away.

    Come to AmiWest 2010 Show and have the chance to win a dual booting G4 eMac with the license key donated by the MorphOS Developer Team!

    What a prize Dave! I'd kill to be there, but 20000 km is too much.

    Great. Failing to show this new release would be a big miss, because it has been already seen before. Having it run on a laptop would be impressive...

    ... So much, in fact, that makes me raise this question: Do you already have permission from the amigan camp to steal the show?

    Hey dude, where the hell have you been all this time? I thought you had vanished away, after being one of the most irr... erm... creative ;-) MorphZone members. Great to have you back, do you plan to participate here as you once used to?

    I was shocked to see your nick in a certain document about recent (boring) affairs mixing (again) Amiga and lawyers.

    Ya it's good to be back. I don't know if I will be as active in the community as I once was (though I would like to be), but I will be around. And I will be attending AmiWest :). Guess I should give up my old title as the official morphzone thread creator now hu? ;)

    @poundsmack,

    Glad to read that you will be attending the AmiWest 2010 Show. Please introduce yourself to me while you are there and I hope you will sign up to participate in the Amiga Game Competition for a chance to win the 1.25GHz G4 eMac with registered MorphOS2.5 License Key and dual boot setup on the hdd for MacOSX & MorphOS2.5.

    See you there,

    @AmigaDave

    Can we claim you as the official rep for MorpOS & giving a real demo, or are you just bringing systems for ppl to play with? :-)

    @all

    I ask because we haven't had a public demo to show the features of MorphOS at the show like we do with OS4. This will be the biggest show in a long time & we'd like to see the MorphOS team get involved a whole lot more.

    AmiWest is where all the Amiga camps come together for a weekend without any war, OS4, MorphOS, AROS. Its the way the Amiga community should be. :-D

    @sundown,

    Unless I get another (more experienced than myself) user of MorphOS2.x to attend the show and help with such a demonstration, I don't think that such a demonstration by me alone will work at this year's show. Thanks for the request and offer.
